We have 'promoted' the captain of the play-calling (Bowen) and now cut our most productive member of the secondary (Butler). Adoree sucks too. I know right. We are deep into free agency and the team is just releasing guys and not signing anyone!

I'd take a look at the other Charger corner Michael Davis just for the sweet mustache. On a serious note he's actually a pretty decent corner, but will likely get overpaid. If for some reason we can get him on a reasonable contract he'll be a solid addition.

Malcolm Butler is coming off his best season and was rated as one of the best corners all year & had 4 ints. So You have to be either stupid or one of those people who thinks things only sound good when coming from your mouth Lol. I'm not saying that Butler wasn't a good player. The bulk of the forum is saying Butler is a good CB. The issue is the salary cap exists and it made sense to free up 10 million on an aging CB. If you want to talk stupid, consider this. Since this was an expected move across the league I guess Jon Robinson, Vrabel, and the staff is stupid as well as many league experts who predicted this. We can all aspire to be as smart as you. After all, your GM of what NFL team?

We will obviously make some moves, but as of right now, on paper, we are a worse team than what we fielded last year (which was significantly worse than the team we fielded the year before). I think many teams consider themselves worse now than they were last year, but a few have upgraded their coaching (not us), made trades for players that should make them better (not us), or signed players that should make them better (not us). I no longer have unwavering faith in JRob to bring in quality players, either in the draft or FA, and I have zero faith that meat head and his good-ole-boys club of coaching can put together anything close to a 21st century scheme. You and I disagree, and that's fine...we'll see how things play out after free agency and the draft, and I'm sure we'll both update our outlooks at least slightly. Lockdown corners all make over $15 mil. Adoree's salary puts him in the "solid CB" group which is fair. Joe Haden, Desmond Trufant, Kendall Fuller, Bradley Roby, Richard Sherman all make ~$10 mil. Adoree is as good or better than most of that group.

SleepingTitan
"Tampa Bay had an average secondary but won the SB with a pass rush." Yeah, they did have a great pass rush. They also had 2 second round corners that are playing well. One had 2x Adoree's career interceptions last year (4). But they're front 7 STACKED cause Tampa Bay has sucked for so long and Brady helped recruit FA: Suh, Vita Vea, JPP, Levonte David, Shaq Barrett. (basically household, perennial Pro Bowl names) Only Simmons, Evans, and maybe Landry would be recognized by anybody nationally on our team. The only way we can get a group like this is paying for it. So if we say, sign Lawson, draft Asante Samuel Jr. AND Jabril Cox or Zaven Collins AND a Trill Williams, I'm all for it. Kwity Paye is a nice prospect to consider too. The priority should be CB and finding a mic for the defense (in the draft.) We're simply gonna have to buy a pass rusher. Kinda pointless to say that you have yet to see a move on defense to improve the defense when there aren't really any moves to be made in that direction. japan
The knock (up until this past season) wasn't that Adoree lacked ball skills. It was that the impact plays from him were few and far between. Like some of us have noted, he is basically Jason McCourty who people thought was a pretty good corner, who was always around the ball but never made enough impact plays. And McCourty was a 6th rounder...
titanskick8851
I am saying a couple of good spurts of good play do not make you a good CB. I want to see consistency out of him. Stay healthy first and foremost. I would love to say I am wrong and completely eat crow on it, but I have serious doubts that he is able to put it together and be that kind of player.
