I feel like I've been saying this. It never made sense to me. Most people don't even have student loans, and of the ones that do most of them are not unmanageable. I think student debt relief is a way more popular idea on Twitter because Twitter is dominated by Democrats with student loans and the idea that it's a panacea for Democrats follows from that. oldschool

Do you care about the blue collar rural white voters Democrats have been bleeding for over a decade? Well they sure as hell won’t vote if they feel like they are being ignored. And I’m all for doing more for workers. But that’s a separate issue and generally requires 60 votes in the senate.

You're just ignoring that most young people don't have student debt. Why would they base their vote or non-vote on that issue? oldschool

Especially if they feel like their interests are being ignored. Edited April 14, 2022 by Starkiller

Either you have to set it early enough to (within reason) catch the earliest or you need to do regular testing somehow.

Good luck counting on them.

Its a fact there are plenty of mentally sound people in their 70 and early 80s. Durbin is 77, Angus King is 78. Are they unfit to serve? where do you draw the line? Your real issue is that a bunch of old white people still run the country and you want younger voices at the table. I'm all in favor of consecutive term limits for congress but setting an arbitrary age max is a stupid idea as whatever age you set as the cap will cut out many capable people unless its 85+ which won't have the desired affect you are after. We need more than “mentally sound” ppl governing our country. No one is at their peak at 70….no one. There’s a reason people get sent off to pasture in the private sector….where performance and accountability matter LongTimeFan, and oldschool 1
LongTimeFan
If those 70 and 80 yr olds are still sane, they can be used as consultants. As for student debt, if the Dems are dumb enough to pass something to gain 400,000 votes, please do as they will lose 40 million votes from sensible people.
