Go watch the all 22. He feels pressure that’s not there and starts trying to run way too early. He’s not going to look much better if at all.

Lewan is one of the 2-3 best LTs in the league, very likely the very best run blocking LT. There was a stat earlier about Jacksonville getting beat with a ton of runs to the left .. and passes to the left, but we’re elite at defending the right side of the field so far this year. Weve avoided running left because Lewan has been out and mostly run to the right. Its a matchup that could hurt us if we don’t attempt to adjust to their weakness. Alcibiades
From the start, I've been hoping we go at least 2-2 to start the year. With our schedule, I thought missing Lewan would hurt a lot in the first weeks. It really showed up in both games, but especially against the Colts. While the OL has played better than I expected in the first two weeks, Kelly is still awful out there. It's clear why he's a backup. Lewan is WAY better. It's disrupting our entire offense. I'm not excusing Mariota, BTW. He isn't playing well enough. By this point, he should be the guy who can get this team through something like this. But so far we are 1-1, which is still in line with my preseason hopes. If we win tonight, we'll be where we need to be. I kind of thought we'd lose to the Browns and beat the Colts, which would have been better (because of division win), but whatever. We've played 2 games, and we have an OL that still needs to gel, even with Lewan. Stafford has flashed why we got him, but he also isn't communicating properly with the rest of the OL. It takes time. Great OLs usually have a season or two together, and our guys haven't had that. They are missing stunts and other things, due to inexperience together. We desperately need our star LT back, but the OL should also improve through the year as they learn to work together more.
SleepingTitan
Some of Lewan's penalties drive me crazy too, but that's the cost of that fire son. It burns both ways.

This is the weird part of some of Mariota's criticisms though. People acknowledge the shoddy Oline play and the receivers frequently not getting open, yet they turn around and talk like Mariota's struggles have been happening in a vaccuum. No, Mariota's not trusting what he sees because what he sees hasn't been consistent enough to earn trust. Off throws and problematic pocket presence aren't things that just happened to him. Did he look better in previous seasons working the pocket and being more decisive? Yes he did. Those things have eroded, but they didn't happen all on their own and they didn't just disappear from him as a player. If they had we wouldn't get games like we got last year against the Cowboys and Patriots. And that has been the point all along. His inconsistency is a mirrored result of the inconsistency around him. That's something that he has to find a way to overcome but also maybe the rest of the offense needs to stop waiting for him to drag them kicking and screaming into playing better too. Titans279
Lewan is a good player. I don't like is personality but that's fine unless he loses us more games with his stupidity. I'm still not over that Raiders game
