Cyrus
Also, it seems pretty clear the Titans are trying to get all of the small contracts out of the way so that they can focus on the more significant contracts in free agency. No reason to be worrying about depth contracts come the first week of free agency.
Omar
He's the team's underneath YAC receiver. He's a 4th/5th type receiver who is a subpackage guy. They'll still add another receiver somewhere in the draft with a totally different skill set (Outside receiver, not slot). I wouldn't be surprised if Hawkins got paid about $1M or so per year. I agree...now they need another tall, physical WR.
Cyrus
McCormick is reporting that it's a 3 year deal. My guess is that it's a 3 year, $4M deal with incentives. (maybe $5M max). It's obvious that they intend for him to stick around as depth and hopefully continue to develop.
WG53
There is no chance in hell this team signs a free agent WR either, at least for more than a minimum type deal. They could draft one in the 1st round though. That is contradicted by what Munch has said in the offseason already.

Cyrus
That is contradicted by what Munch has said in the offseason already. It seemed to me like Munchak was referring to the draft, not free agency.
OILERMAN
That is contradicted by what Munch has said in the offseason already. I don't think the boys in the front office have really explained to Munchak what is going on. Munchak is waiting to see how this unfolds just like us

Dikinbaus
Not liking this move...too inconsistent and it seems like the window of getting a Meachem in FA is likely closed. He's just not a difference maker, and we need another alongside CJ and Britt...hopefully we can include Cook and Locker this season.
OILERMAN
and it seems like the window of getting a Meachem in FA is likely closed. The Titans were never going to sign a free agent WR like Meachem, no chance
code
He wasn't on my list of 8 moves so my batting average takes a big hit. I'm not anti-Hawk. His improvement to 55 catches in season 4 is similar to how Derrick Mason finally came on towards the end of his first deal. I like that we aren't sitting on our hands and that we are taking care of our 'role players'. You simply can't replace 17 guys in an offseason. We are now down to 14 decisions. I think the only two that would shock me are Ruud and Scott. Both guys will get more on the market then we will likely we willing to give. Be curious to see who we chip away with next. I'm betting on Tim Shaw and Fernando Velsaco with Jordan Babineaux as the third possibility. Sounds like we are trying to get Jason Jones done as well. From my perspective you have to lay the foundation before you start shopping for the granite countertops and wood floors. Stephens, Hawk and Otto all feel like foundation to me. We will know the budget for the sexy signings once we have the rest of the foundation pieces on board.
titanruss
i like the signing. like code said, you have to lay the foundation and sign up some of these guys first so you can check your cap room and focus on the bigger signings later. We needed to keep one of avery and hawk... and hawk had great hands this year and made plays after the catch. We still have space for 1 more receiver. Alcibiades
He had 55 catches? That's impressive, actually. This signing is fine. if we can upgrade him, we can cut him with minimal loss. If not, we get depth who has improved every season.
