abenjami
I'm tired of looking at the draft list sitting on my desk. Time for the picks to be made or skip him Minnesota Vikings style!

We'd need an expectation set as a league before we'd do anything like that ... but it would be set at less than a week.

So you and @Cyrus are willing to go dictatorship when it comes to franchise ownership and rule changes but all of a sudden we need a league wide expectation to skip a draft pick? Whatever. If that’s the case, I’m done checking this thread and when it gets to my pick I’ll make sure it takes a solid month.
Jamalisms
Pretty decent impression of the crying Jordan meme.
TitansGuru
Can we not move to a vote? Something like: Should we put a time limit on picks? Yes, after __ hours the next person may submit their draft pick. After that pick, the next person may submit theirs, and so on. The person who was skipped may submit their pick of any players not selected at the time they are making the pick at any point before the conclusion of the draft. If a player has consecutive scheduled picks, the full time limit will also be allowed for the next pick(s) and will begin at the expiration of the preceding pick's allotted time. Once the draft is concluded by either the final pick being made or its time limit being reached, any person in possession of a skipped pick will have 36 hours to make their selection or the pick will be forfeited. How many hours should a person be allotted to make the selection? a.) 24 b.) 36 c.) 48 d.) 72 e.) No, take as long as you need.

I vote for "D"--with one specific caveat, this time starts when the person is active on the board after the other pick is in. Life happens, someone may legitimately be pulled away and the pick really doesn't need to be in until August. That said, if you have time to post on the board you have time to make the pick. The thing is that he does this every year out of spite (or at least initially took his time outta spite). Half of his posts every single year are I will get to it in a few hours and doesn't bother with following up until he gets called out on it again. It was a holiday weekend that you are supposed to be outside for so I totally get it and ultimately who really cares, it's just ridiculous that every single pick takes wayyyy too long because "he forgot". Calm down Nancy. Last year was a joke. This year was unintensional.

Jamalisms
I'm rather mixed on it, personally. We're not truly in a rush but waiting does give an advantage due to OTA reports and it's annoying to be checking in just to be diligent yourself, to make a pick if it's your turn or to (for myself) help just facilitate stuff for everyone by updating draft info... only to find there's been no movement. Feels like a waste of time. That said, even just a post with an expectation of "hey, I'm busy - give me a few days" would help alleviate the annoyance. And I think some of the problem with being busy is not researching ahead of time when you're not busy... so some level of diligence beforehand would help. I like having the luxury of time to 1. Be busy 2. Work out trades and pick through information 3. Have weekends not count against a deadline (especially holiday weekends). Is there an amount of time to fairly allow for all that without having it be indefinite? Sure. But then shit does happen. An arbitrary deadline could absolutely produce a bad result in rare circumstances. I don't like the idea of skipping picks but I like the idea of people updating league mates on expectations and doing some diligence beforehand so it's not a consideration from scratch once the clock starts on them. And an informal commitment to that is fine with me. Only a few picks have gone long but that's usually involved a weekend and often is under 48 hours. Some people just over-consider and need to shit or get off the pot... and one or two emphasize timeliness significantly less than others (which necessitates a moving of expectations for one or both parties) but mostly we've been pretty good. Always a struggle later in the draft. Ultimately ... similar to what I said in the "9's makes too many transactions" discussion ... I think rules to eliminate bad conduct are worse than the bad conduct. Owners should conduct teams in a generally considerate way and owners should be pretty flexible in how they view the conduct of others. If you think there's an issue with conduct or flexibility, discuss and resolve it. If you can't, if you think you need a rule - what your league really needs is a new owner. The thing is you don't get the benefit of the doubt of being any less of a dick when you have done the exact same things for the sole reason of trolling people. People rightfully so have problems with your drafting because you are never prepared any year for something that seems to ultimately be you simply taking the consensus highest rated pick. If you were to pick some real unknown gem it would be something but you aren't doing that.
