There were a few who were all pouty about us making the playoffs because it helped the staff or because they were convinced we'd be one and done. Call me an idiot or not a true fan; it won’t hurt me. I believe in long term success rather than a clobbering by the Pats or Steelers (btw if you go down 21-3 against them, they actually continue to play football against you). Did we win a playoff game? Yes. Was it ugly? Very. Good teams don’t rely on ugly wins every game and that’s what we do? The Pats don’t have to climb back in every game during the fourth. They try to put teams away early. Is it great that we have the fortitude to stick in there? Of course it is but fortitude cannot win championships by itself. Does this win erase our end of season collapse? Does it erase the worst 8-4 in the history of the league? Does it erase Mariota’s regression? I don’t think it should. We played one good half of football. A half of football that made sure that the three stooges are heading out coaching staff next year. The same staff that oversaw a horrific regression in almost every facet. In the long run, there is simply no way that benefits the franchise. I’m sorry, but it just can’t. But go on and celebrate.
