Nash
Game was close until 4th quarter. A team has to go through these experiences to become consistent, especially in big games.. Our defense is not up to standard at this point..

By the way, the Titans went to the SuperBowl that year and McNair turned out to be a pretty good QB. All QB's will have bad games. Some here act like that just started watching football. Don't know if LeBeau took the wrong medication at halftime but that's the thing with these geriatric coaches. You never know if they got their medication right so you never know what you will get. Too much blitzing in the second half. For instance, you can't blitz from the same side as Brown is lined up in the slot. That's an impossible cover for Jackson and a poorly called play. We get get one of them and upgrade Spain/Kline and we are a dominant running team again. Jones reminds me of Kamara with more speed. Freeman looks like a young Murray. Michel may be my favorite. I have him as the 2nd best RB in the draft. If if you want to watch a mean, nasty SS look at Ronnie Harrison from Bama or if you want to see a Byard clone Deshon Elliot from Texas. Another guy you may not know about is the edge Dorance Armstrong... he is legit. If if you want to see a game changing ILB look no further than Roquan Smith from Georgia or Mikah Kizer. Another kid to watch is Jerome Baker from Ohio State... he could be special but we have a guy like him in Brown... Malik Jefferson could be a special EDGE guy from Texas or a 3 down ILB. He’s just not a fit at Texas I've been researching Freeman and Jones, and would love to land either of those guys. I think Freeman is a perfect fit for this offense. No, the Titans are just that undisciplined and that unpoorly coached. Mariota is regressing and who is to blame? They're 8-2. I'd say that's about as "elite" as it gets this year. Who's better in the AFC other than the Patriots?
cenj
Want to talk about overreaction @OILERMAN? The calling for Lebeau's head. The defense played lights outs for a long time, constantly bailing out the offensive failures. They've been bailing out the offense for weeks, despite having way less talent invested and rookies/2nd year players starting and improving their play. When the offense is terrible, it's on the players. It's the fault of these rookies who can't be expected to play at a high level. Blame Mariota, not the scheme. Even if it's against bad teams, we give opposing defense all the credit. The OL can't be expected to hold up against good DLs right? It's the players, not the coaches, who aren't developing well or contributing much. When the defense, on a short week, does fantastic against the Steelers until being totally gassed, it's all on the coach. Not on a raw rookie DB covering Antonio Brown, or on J. Brown (who was unbelievable), or 2nd year Byard, or a terrible Cyprien, or the DL and pass rushers who have been criminally neglected in FA and the draft. It's all on Lebeau scheme, even though his players are actually getting better week to week. This is the definition of bias. If the coach's name was Mike Munchak and not Mike Mularkey, there's no way he'd be getting such a free pass.
Guest
It was also a Thursday night game. These bizarro games mean fuck all to me. Teams come out flat (especially on the road) on Thursday night all the time. We shit the bed in one quarter--it was winnable going in. The only thing I'm truly in a panic over, which is something we ALL should consider a crisis for this board, is that it seems like Mariota's bad game has drawn BergerKing out. abenjami
I agree there is way too much overreaction, especially for a TNF road game against a very good team. At the same time, I thought last night exposed some things. Clearly there were way too many execution mistakes by the players. Mariota threw a couple of horrible passes that resulted in turnovers. Murray flat out missed a block in pass pro that resulted in a sack. Spain made Warmack look like an all pro. Jonnu Smith missed a block that would have sprung Murray for a big run. Casey roughed the passer at a horrible time. Our FG unit got blocked. And of course, Walker dropped a wide open TD ball. But there are also clearly some coaching issues and a game like this on the road against a very good team helps expose them. There are some serious issues with the offensive design and game planning. Cajuntitan
My only take away from this game is that if we make the playoffs we've got a legitimate shot at beating everyone. We played like shit and had nothing go our way and were neck and neck through 3 quarters. This isn't the VY vs the chargers Titans team that had no prayer of victory or the one trick hand it to CJ team either. We might not win it all, but after Thursday night I believe that possibility exists. Having said all that, Davis has got a long long way to go, and six games left to figure it out. If I'm Mariota I'm not looking his way again this season.
abenjami
I didn't notice it before last night but Davis is obviously out of shape. He was literally huffing and puffing after running a short route late in the game and it was caught by the camera. The hamstring injury really set him back. What concerns me most is the staff keeps trying to force an offensive design that can't work on a consistent enough basis with the pieces we currently have. It has been discussed all season how much we miss Fasano and that showed up again last night. If Jonnu Smith is going to be on the field for 50% of the snaps, then they need to stop asking him to block so much and start throwing him the damn ball more often. He didn't have a single target last night and most of his targets thus far have been gimmick plays. I honestly don't think they attempted a single pass longer than 10 yards in the first half. They come out in the second half and throw a deep ball and it results in a TD. They throw a couple more intermediate balls that work early in the second half, and then they go back into a shell. It's too much short passing and not enough stretching the defense. I also don't think they are giving Mariota enough flexibility in his audibles. Sure, he is allowed to change plays but it looks like the changes are predetermined and he doesn't have the discretion to audible to anything in the playbook. They also clearly had problems getting the plays in last night. There were way too many instances where Mariota was having to rush the snap without having adequate time to read the defense. Things like mixing in hard counts were forgotten. They get a first and goal and waste the first two plays running Murray and another gimmick play. Trickery is great but it only works when it's a surprise. The short passing game and the running game don't work as effectively when the defense doesn't have to account for Davis or Taylor running deep routes. Huston
Thats why i didn't even bother reading any post in here after the game, figured it would be a nuclear melt down even though everyone realistically thought the Titans would lose.
