That is almost always the first criticism of crypto. That it's not backed by anything of value. I thought the same thing when I first heard of Bitcoin. I even posted as much in the early days of this thread. It's nonsense. Cryptos are backed by the blockchains that produces them. But you mostly never hear of blockchain being attacked in these FUDster manifestos with the exception of the potential quantum attacks down the road. They typically either barely mention it or they just ignore it altogether. If quantum computers can break blockchain security then they can probably break any other security measure that's out there as well, the security that safeguards national security information or medical records in the healthcare industry? Seems as though quantum computers would be a threat to everything, not just the crypto space. But I'm starting to digress. People tend to talk about bitcoin like it exists in its own little make believe orb on the internet. But bitcoin is as much "make believe" as the databases the healthcare industry keeps medical information stored in, the CSS and Javascript that gives websites their aesthetics and functionality, as much as Google's search engine, the code for all those Playstation and XBox games that rake in most of the profit for Sony and Microsoft (it's not the consoles), or as much as the Submit Reply button at the bottom of this comment box. It may not physically exist, but you've clicked the fuck out of it on here to the tune of 89k times over the last 10 years. All those clicks? Brought to you by Satitans Gurumoto. The people who call Bitcoin "funny money" or a digital pile of nothing are as dumb as the sky is wide. They are horseback riders criticizing Henry Ford. Bitcoin is essentially the Google of money except for the fact it doesn't spy on its user base, sell its user base's information to marketing companies, and is completely apolitical. You can call it "cultist", but that is just a lazy analysis. I believe in Bitcoin more than government. I believe in Bitcoin more than I believe in organized religion. I believe the people who are against it or makes fun of those who are for it are just plain intellectually lazy. Not everyone needs to believe in it as strongly as I do. I am fine with that.
