Good podcast guys, thanks for the effort. Still have a hard time hearing Scotty, I have to turn it up when he is speaking and then down when Jon and Jamal come back on.

The first game of the season will tell us so much, how we play against Oakland. The impending move doesn't seem to have negatively impacted them as much as other lame duck teams, I was hoping for a bit of a boost from their disarray.

I have a hard time convincing myself that our record will be better than 9-7, but that is from a bias from years of not doing so well more than an objective evaluation. Oakland, Seattle and Pittsburgh are the toughest 3, but I can't say any of these are unbeatable.

5 more days.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. The Raiders were a sexy late season Superbowl pick last year before Carr broke his leg. If the Titans want to change the narrative they need to win games like this one.

And they showed late last year that they could against better teams like Denver and KC.

In the NFL one season to the next means almost nothing, roster turnover and injuries change every team so much. As soon as 2017 actually starts last year's game or any past streaks go out the window.

Raiders on paper are a damn good team and the Titans still don't have a great record at home.

Having said that, the Titans have more talent on the roster than they did last year and are in the second season of this offense.  The Raiders defense has holes and I expect the Titans to come out firing.  If they can get in rhythm I expect them to give the Raiders defense fits.

Also, we really don't know what the Titans defense actually looks like.  The Raiders offense is potent but there are pieces on defense that simply weren't here last season and preseason didn't tell us much.  There is a decent chance the Titans pass defense is greatly improved.

Also take into consideration that the Titans went toe to toe with the Raiders last year with less talent and the Raiders are traveling from the west coast and there is more excitement in Nashville than there has been in several years.

The Raiders have a good team and you can never discount a good team.  Having said that, of all the opening week games against playoff teams, I believe the Titans have as strong an argument for this game as any.  They have the talent to beat these teams and they have to do it at home if they expect to take the next step into the playoffs.

It's also week one and both teams will be sloppy.  It really won't matter much to the rest of the season no matter what happens week 1 as demonstrated brilliantly by Wiz's tenure here a few years ago.

This.

DLB always starts out the season strong on defense. He made soup out of rocks and water in our secondary at the end of last year. He now has a pretty good set of safeties, and an upgraded set of corners (as Oman said, we started last season with Cox and McCourty). Add to it this tweener guy Jayon Brown. I would not be totally surprised if we get an outstanding defensive performance against the Raiders on Sunday.

Can we get some feedback on this from others? Is this what everyone is hearing?

I listened to it via YouTube and you can barely hear Scotty. There are some parts of the podcast he seems to speak louder and is able to be heard but most of it he's really low.

Thanks. Trying to get to the bottom of this. Scotty got a new mic and - on our end - he was actually really loud during the live recording. I used the google hangouts software to turn both of them down a bit. Next week, I'll try turning Scotty up and Jamal down, regardless of how it sounds to me.
