AussieTitanFan08
just finished listening to the ESPN First Draft Podcast, a lot of it was discussing risers/fallers during the draft process. don't really respect Kiper Jnr/McShay's scouting evaluations as they are more media draft reporters masquerading as talent evaluators, but what they do have is a network of league wide contacts. both reported that many teams are cooling on Corey Davis due to "concentration drop" concerns and lack of participation in the draft process, also were very confident Mike Williams will be the first WR taken. these two aren't the first in recent days to report this, many are starting to report Williams will be the first WR taken. Face
I was actually wondering this. We've been discussing how little visits Davis has had but he's also seemed to be very absent during this whole process. His ankle is an issue I guess but he hasnt exactly seemed overly enthusiastic in getting out there. I do worry a bit about Williams because the FO ratings have him so much lower than Ross & Davis. His YPC was not good.
socaltitan
I think Williams is the easiest to project. Other than having a lot of speed, he's got a lot of qualities you want in a #1 WR. He's a big, physical, tall WR who attacks the ball in the air and is a big jump ball threat. A prototypical X receiver. Very productive player who comes from a known school, has played top competition, and is a high character guy. I think he answered the speed concern, at least as it relates to 40 time. 4.5 is acceptable for a guy that size. There have been guys who've run that time or slower and still been very successful. Deandre Hopkins ran 4.57. I get the separation concerns. That's for JR and co. to determine. Williams would not be the first guy who had those question marks coming out and ended up producing big time.
AussieTitanFan08
really torn on what we should do at WR, can make an argument that Williams/Ross/Davis would all add something to our offense but on the downside each has at least one significant question mark about them. question for everyone would you prefer one of the big 3 Williams/Ross/Davis in the first round or trading around and ending up with Chris Godwin and Zay Jones in the 2nd round. Starkiller
I'd probably say look to trading down from both 5 and 18, accumulate day 2 picks, and get a WR in round 2 and another on day 3.
kyle021
If we can drop to 12 and grab a second from Cleveland so they can get Trubisky at 5 then I would love for us to take any of the three WR. Don't care who. Just get one. They all fit perfect. My personal preference has and continues to be Ross. I just love his game. Sure handed. Speed for days. Good route runner. Physical. He can play multiple spots and return. I would want him over all 3 Davis is a more all around guy. The drop thing doesn't scare me. Every WR drops the ball here and there. He is a bigger yet slower version of Ross but faster and more polished route runner than Williams. Williams had the size and speed and is a go getter. He needs to polish his routes. They are almost DGB bad. However he works hard loves the game and will get better. I really expect us to trade back with Cleveland if Trubisky is there and net a 2nd and swap our conditional 3rd for the top 3rd as compensation. We could then land Ross, Reddick/Davis at ILB and a CB like White, Tankersley, King, Jackson, or Kevin King in 2 and get 3 instant day one players. Throw in a WR like Kupp or Godwin or Jones or Smith-Schuster in 3 and a TE like Roberts or Kittle with our other 3rd and we are talking serious talent added. (We could even land Everett in 2 and go Cutrer, Witherspoon, Sutton, Awuzie in 3) Our 4th rounder could then be an OLB, DE, or 3rd down RB. i think we draft a QB in 4 or 5 if say Webb or Peterman are there. That's why I still keep coming back to the TE position and Howard if they burn a 1st round pick on offense. The fit is there, the athleticism is there and he's just as fast as Williams, with a build that can destroy undersized DBs. Grab a Jones or a Godwin or JuJu later for depth, and concentrate on defense in between.

Smith-Schuster is interesting. Going into the season, a lot of people had him as a 1st rounder and a potential first WR off the board. Didn't have as good of a season and fell down the board a little. He looks a little Boldin esque to me. And he's still only 20. He's really young. Doesn't turn 21 until November. The track record of USC WR in the NFL is downright awful thought if you believe in that type of thing
AussieTitanFan08
its funny how releasing McCourty has altered my thinking towards the draft, I knew he was highly unlikely to stay but the fact he isn't on the roster leaves a gaping hole at the CB position, much like the WR position, no true number 1 at either position or any depth at all. even with the depth at both positions in this draft it makes it hard to see Hooker/Adams as realistic options at 5 now, that would be a luxury pick given our needs. I don't think it was ever a realistic option but its also hard now to see JRob giving away picks to go up and grab Garrett if pick 1 became available. charleytolar
How about McCaffrey for the Julian Edelman role on this team?
GLinks
I still love McCaffrey for this offense at 18, and yes I think he can be that slot guy. If it was an all offense 1st round, Howard/McCaffrey is about as good as it gets, to me. He could realistically be in the top 5 offensive players on the Titans' draft board and be a guy they decide to grab. They may have him ranked above Davis and Ross for all we know. GLinks
What tears me is I want 2 sure-fire 1st round guys if we still have 2 picks to use there, and I kind of fear we'll end up bootstrapping someone projected from round 2 into the 1st with our second pick -- either a CB or WR, which is fine, or someone else like an Evan Engram they'll decide to convert to WR. I worry a bit about that last one.

Supdawg
I love Davis, he reminds me of TO, but I also admit that his drops are concerning. Reminds me of Kenny Britt.
