Just living in the moment. Context is everything. The Falcons lost this game more than the Patriots won it. Bottomline: both QBs starting out at the same time, in either this era or Montana's, I'm taking Montana either time. In this era I win 7 Super Bowls, not 5. Great game by both teams, and the few mistakes made by both teams were huge, mostly by the Pats in the 1st half, and mostly by the Falcons in the 2nd. One trait that really makes Brady great is his unflinching poise when nothing is going his way. Even in both SB losses to the Giants, he played really well and consistent, despite getting hit a lot and the offense sputtering for most of the game. Most quarterbacks, even great ones like Rodgers, gets frustrated and starts to press; Brady stays consistent, trusting and executing the offense all game. The difference between those teams that lost to the Giants, I think, are the more clutch performances by the current receiver group. When your QB is clutch, you are in a damn good spot. Never lost a SB, played in a much tougher era, just as clutch as Brady has ever been. If the Falcons don't fold like a cheap lawn chair and gift-wrapped this game for Brady this retarded ass thread doesn't exist. I think if you era swapped the two, they'd be failures. You play to the game that is now, and it might be less "tough", but it's also certainly more complicated. However you analyze it, Tom Brady is going down as one of greatest with little question.

Eventually, Manning would get tight, start pressing and eventually he would make the big mistake. Yeah, Peyton was a great QB and a great regular season QB, but he was never anything special when it came to the playoffs ... he was the exact opposite of Eli and Flacco, who are, at most, solid regular season QBs, but perform great in the playoffs and SBs. imo, it's the reason Elway decided to switch the direction of the Broncos from a high scoring offensive team, to a defensive juggernaut. If Peyton played better in the playoffs and SBs, they would've probably stayed a primarily offensive team.
nine
As the saying goes...you gotta be in it to win it. Montana never lost a Super Bowl. However, in his fourteen full seasons, his teams reached the Super Bowl four times...slightly better than once every four years. There were also ten seasons where they fell short and failed to make the big dance at all. In the 15 full seasons Brady has played, his teams have reached the Super Bowl seven times, winning five of them. Only eight times in fifteen years have they fallen short of the Super Bowl. Almost HALF of Brady's seasons have resulted in Super Bowl appearances. Brady will never have Montana's undefeated Super Bowl record...but he does have more SB wins overall. And since the NFL merger in 1970, no other QB has ever done a better job of leading teams to the championship game. Nobody else is even close. Actually, Elway was pretty close in leading his teams to 5 SBs, but he just has more losses than wins; then again, aside from his last 2 SBs, those Broncos teams were overmatched by their opponents ... Giants, Redskins, and 49ers.

Brady's had some talent over the years too, but not as much with this years team. Those last two drives by Brady were unparalleled throwing to slower much less talented WR's. That was threading the needle and willing a team to win like the sports world has never seen. He's done it so much and makes it look so easy that sometimes it can be easy to overlook. Joe was cool as a cucumber, but that was a fucking Antarctic ice sculpture masterpiece tonight. You could make a rational argument before, but not anymore.
