Am more inclined to chalk this up to coaching. I want to agree with this but really it's just the passing game that is struggling mightily. The defense is solid/good and has recently started to take the ball away. The running game is not only good but I would say great, and he's getting the best protection I've seen in the last 10+ years. Now one could argue that the OL is also committing dumb ass penalties (Lewan/Jones) and false starts which certainly don't help and is a fair point. The whole thing is just weird because every once in a while he has a little streak that makes you say "aha" and reminds you of the old Marcus but just when it seems like he's about to break through he fumbles or makes some boneheaded pick/decision. Don't mistake me though, I'm NO WHERE near jumping ship on Marcus. I don't think what we saw last year was a mirage and I believe he's just a young, very talented guy going through some growing pains but I do think it's important to be honest about his struggles. scine09
What it comes down to is average QB play has this team at 4-0.

We would be 4-0 with an NFL playbook that used actual NFL route combinations.

Also, have you noticed that the routes the WRs are running are essesntially all check down routes? Hmm... This is scines MO.

The difference between Mariota from year one to this season is as glaring as it gets. It will be interesting to see what that guy with All-22 on Reddit has to say about Mariota this week. The two biggest issues with his play this year is footwork and his progressions. We heard how coachable he is all the time, which leads me to believe the quality of the coaching has went to shit. This is even more obvious considering the things he did as a rookie are things he is struggling with in his second season. I personally think our OC is a moron and he is closely followed by a slack jawed Mularkey (does he ever just stand with his mouth closed??). The truth is the problems with Whiz's system were things that could be upgraded by personnel. Better RB's, Better OL and WR and it would have worked, at least. The reason we can run this year vs. last isn't due to scheme - it's roster upgrade. This offense isn't salvageable, I don't care what personnel gets brought in. Calling a pass play where the receiver runs into the ocean sounds just like something that retard Robiskie would do. I would look out for that this weekend considering we'll be in Miami. He came out of Tampa Bay with a perfect passer rating last year, and the ocean there didn't seem to affect him. lol

Come on Mariota got the Titans in position against the Raiders before Taylor Lewan blew it. The team is playing sloppy, including but not limited to Mariota. Until everyone figures out how to walk, chew bubblegum, and kick ass at the same time it's going to be a long year.
Denali
When his first option is covered, Mariota is fucking useless. Do the coaches even go over contingency plans with him for each play? Does he listen? Does he comprehend? Yesterday it was like he never in his life saw what the Texans defense was doing. Unpolished? Of course. Unrehearsed? Definitely. Unprepared? Bingo. At this point he belongs on the bench with a clipboard until he can gain a better understanding of the plays and how to recognize and adjust to NFL defenses. Game experience for a QB is useless when he/she doesn't understand what is happening and what needs to be done. (Note that I wrote "he/she" in order to not appear sexist and to placate all of you Homocrats out there).
WVTITAN
The minimum sample size is 30 to gauge probability. Mariota hasn't reached that threshold yet. Bologna has.
