Mariota didn't look sharp to me last night

Not sure if it was just an exaggeration but yeah, Delaine had at least the pass that went too high last week and got no YAC haha

I just went back and looked. That's his lone catch this preseason.

Even while not having his best outing, Mariota made critical 3rd and long throws to extend drives. He should never have taken that shot from the LB in a preseason game, but more often than not, he is making plays on QB downs.

Assuming he doesn't die from some type of blood borne asthma type disease he's gonna be a focal part of the offense

No doubt. I'm just using that to show how vanilla they're keeping in the preseason (and possibly working on complex routes, targeting other guys, etc.) because he's absolutely going to be heavily involved in the regular season.

Adding him and Wright to the game plan adds a lot of possibilities

Every second-year QB is going to have flaws.  Hell, Andrew Luck was seen as one of the most perfect QB prospects in NFL history....and four years later he's still making his share of mistakes and working to improve certain aspects of his game.

Like every other QB,  Mariota is going to  exhibit flaws in year two...no question about it.  And he's going to make some bad decisions and ugly mistakes along the way, and in some cases the team will lose games as a direct result of his mistakes.....guaranteed.

Expecting him to eliminate every flaw in a year's time is somewhere between unrealistic and straight-up ignorant.  He's going to have flaws and make mistakes;  the best we can hope for is that his flaws aren't fatal and that his mistakes are correctable.

The upside is that he's been a consistent and productive player despite his flaws and inexperience.   As he gains experience, his flaws will become less noticeable, mistakes will become fewer and farther between, and his production and consistency will improve.

Developing a QB isn't a matter of flipping a switch and suddenly fixing all shortcomings.  It's more like planting a seed and watching him grow over a period of several years.  We probably won't see significant improvement from week to week...perhaps not even year over year.  But after 4-5 years of gradual incremental improvement, you'll end up with a player who is dramatically better than the kid you drafted.

You just have to let the process work itself out and realize that there will be plenty of bumps and growing pains along the way.

Man ill take that all year also .....compared to the crap we have been throwing out there the  past few years .....

He might of not  of been spot on but when was the last time you saw a ....TITAN QB ...run a offense that  smoothly ?

..Getting points on there drives...yes not all TD be just getting points ...NOT 3 AND OUTS..

This might be the first preseason in a while that looks like they we getting better every week on Offense ...

and you want to complain about Marcus....better yet lets trade and get METT BACK ......you guys are to funny ...

Enjoy what we have instead of complaining.

It was pretty clear to me that they went out of their way to run the ball & throw it downfield. It was a very vertical offense. I said before the season that I thought this would be a downfield offense because that's what Mularkey & Robiskie do, but they really went downfield this time.

It seems every game he plays it takes a series or 2 to settle down and get the flow of a game. Kind of like boxers who feel each other out in the first round I guess. His first 2 games were above average and this game was average.
