Henry Looks Better than Murray

ZEPPELIN

I know it's preseason, but Henry has looked excellent.  His vision, cuts, lateral movement, and speed are amazing for a guy his size.  I have to say that Murray has been pretty uninspiring, with the exception of a handful of runs.  It's early, but I think Henry has looked significantly better so far.  I think Murray will be fine, but Henry is looking like he is going to light it up when called upon.  We may end up with Henry as our feature back sooner than later.  It will take less than half a season to figure out who is the more productive back in this offense.  Hopefully Mularkey will give most of the carries to the guy who is the most productive.

Oh yeah one other thing...CJ sucked.

Yeah, I don't know if you can compare the two at this point.  Different styles really,. Murray is really efficient and he's been running against the 1s as well.  He is probably a better blocking back at this point too.  I foresee many of moans and groans about this all season.  Murray's style is not as exciting to watch, but he wears on a D throughout a game and his 3-4 yard runs start turning into 6-8 and so on and so on.  When Henry comes in with fresh legs he could easily start busting long runs.   Murray will be the BOOM and Henry will be the POW!

If Henry does end up being more productive than Murray, we should have one of the best running games in the league.  Combine that with the addition of Sharpe and hopefully consistent production from Wright and our TEs, this offense has some serious potential.  It's defense I am worried about.  We definitely need to draft a stud CB in the first round next year.  It's a position that has been neglected too long.

I think Murray has the potential to be an overall better back than Murray in equal circumstances (meaning D Henry doesn't get to run behind that DAL line). But right now Murray's vet experience is invaluable.  All in all, funny again to think about all the grief JRob and TEN got for trading for Murray and drafting Henry when really pretty obvious we needed to start over from scratch at RB.  And he did it perfectly with a vet and yes a boom-or-bust 2nd Rd pick (meaning the MOST dominant college RB in years, but one thought to not translate well to the NFL.... who seems to be translating just fine).

And I really like that they are working them both into packages in on the field at once.  I am waiting for the play where Henry is lead blocker for Murray on a sweep, with the out WR cut block back in on the OLB.   I pity the poor DB.

Not that he needs it Murray has always struck me as a professional but with Henry right behind him looking great making big plays you know that's got to motivate Murray. He knows he cannot afford to start off slow or have many bad games because Henry looks more then capable to be an early starter. The main thing I would worry about with Henry This early on is his pass pro but he's been complimented by Mularkey and Mariota on protection.

I honestly think if Murray makes it through the entire season as the starter there's no way he is the starter next year. Henry to me looks ready right now!

But I bet by the end of the season it evens itself out with Murray getting around 200-210 carries and Henry getting 175+

So far, Murray has looked like the player he was in Dallas...a hard-nosed runner with good speed a knack for ripping off big runs.  Give him a gap, he'll give you 20+ yards.

Henry has been even better than the hype...runs like a freaking wrecking ball.  As impressive as Murray has looked...Henry has impressed even more.

I'm hoping Murray can be used like Forte in Chicago.

Yeah, I haven't seen it mentioned much yet, and I hope that the staff is just hiding it until the real season, but Murray was really good in Dallas catching those little swing passes out of the backfield.   He was able to get a really good start in space and pick up a lot of 15+ yards runs.
