The problem is like @Starkiller mentioned, we might be in the early stages of the down turn. Oh I'm sure. Here's a couple bumps I've had recently: This January rolled a 401k into my IRA. Setup the transfer into VTSAX Total Stock Market then was going to rebalance. Gotta do nothing for a while. On the new job, had a choice of RSUs vs Stock Options. Took 75% options b/c I believe in the company. After 1Q financials, stock went up 50% over my strike price.... but with the overall market those options are now under water. Nothings vested yet but still. It's definitely a long game. OILERMAN
Starkiller
If you want to invest in anything, you might want it in utilities. People will still be paying for TV, internet, etc while they are home. Entertainment industry that isn’t on the internet? Travel industry? Retailers? Mall owners? Good luck... Number9
The shutdown can only last so long. People have to pay for rent and food. No work. No pay.
OilerTitanHybrid
Be careful how long you wish for this thing to go on. If it went into November and into election time, you just might be getting a full on dose of Trump staying in there with no election. lol Trump: "It's too dangerous for large gatherings of people to vote a president into office!" "Therefore, we have enacted a special clause into the constitution that enables me to stay in office however long it takes to defeat this! Could take 4 more years!" GAAAHHH!!!!!! Tomorrow we might see multiple circuit breakers. Ironically, if we get to the level three 20% stoppage, that will be right where the market was when I liquidated. OilerTitanHybrid
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/15/federal-reserve-cuts-rates-to-zero-and-launches-massive-700-billion-quantitative-easing-program.html Might be kinda good to retest the low area around SPX 2400-2500 / DOW 21000. See if it holds from there. Plus, some people are gonna get scared here real soon, if they haven't already. Sell half their wad like they did back in '08. Buy the shit out of it.
