scine09 Posted July 7, 2016 Report Share Posted July 7, 2016 I find ranking QB's very difficult. I think it's more appropriate to put them in tiers. To me there's the absolute elite, the very good QB's, the middle of the road guys, the stiffs and then the guys who aren't proven yet and you can't put them in a tier. I'd put Mariota and Winston along with the rookies this year in that tier. I think going into year 3 you have a much better idea of where a play stands than going into year 2. In any case, here would be my tiers for the likely starters, in no particular order: Elite: Rodgers, Brady Very good: Luck, Brees, Ryan, Carr, Romo, Rivers, Dalton, Newton, Manning, Wilson, Roethlisberger, Palmer Middle of the road: Bortles, Cutler, Stafford, Fitzpatrick, Flacco, Smith, Cousins, Bridgewater Stiffs: Bradford, Sanchez, Gabbert, Tannehill, Taylor, Griffin Impossible to classify due to inexperience: Mariota, Winston, Goff, Osweiler To me the guys in each category, with the exception of the inexperienced guys, are 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. I do think that some can certainly move up and I almost put Bridgewater in the "stiffs" category. I could see Bortles and Cousins going to the "very good" category. I suppose that Tannehill could be a middle of the road QB and maybe I'm too hard on Taylor. I can't bring myself to put other QB's on the same level as Rodgers and Brady. Do you remember the video of him throwing at targets a few years ago? I think it was on this board. It was amazing and unbelievable how accurate he was. The firing had nothing to do with performance and everything to do with the fact that the GM didn't get along with Schottenheimer.
