I think trading back is his and this teams ideal situation and the one he will attempt before picking either of the two guys mentioned above. lets hope he doesnt fuck his way into getting way less than he could have because as of now, he's showing his inexperience with overexcitement and overestimation of the value of that pick in this particular draft. i'm not saying he isnt going to be a good GM down the road, or even this offseason... i'm just saying he's not playing it all that coy with the first pick like he said he would. SleepingTitan
Nah, I think it's good to keep the buzz going. Sounds like everybody wants to trade back so if we wanna get there, we gotta lower our price point.

The "kings ransom" comment was partially the media's fault. They were the ones that didn't read closely enough to know that the comment was talking about moving far back and not just trading in general. It's not like GMs follow ESPN and reporters to get a deal done. There is a 100% chance they have talked to JRob on the phone or in person if they were considering a trade, just to see how much if anything. I doubt he goes around and uses the term "kings ransom" in negotiations/conversations. It's a buzz word and nothing more, which doesn't effect any GM. Stranger
I doubt the other 31 NFL GM's are now not going to inquire with Robinson directly about trading the 1st pick because they heard he wanted a Kings Ransom on ESPN. I think you're worried for nothing, Russ. EDIT - Wisco beat me to the punch. Side note - I just realized I've always read wiscotitansfan as wisconsintitansfan. Mind blown! Because shit like this and the media commenting on his incompetence and how terrible of a GM he is. If you were actually considering trading to #1, you have a franchise changing target. You're not going to get scared off by an ESPN reporter.
Guest
These guys have procedures and processes for these types of negotiations. What they say in the media is hardly relevant.
EagleEye
It's like commercials you see on tv, the ones that is so repetitive it drives you nuts but you still buy the product. JR is doing that so someone will bite.

He never really backtracked, everyone forgets before the kings ransom thing j rob always said he would just want a far deal and isn't going to hold it to that draft value chart

In that interview, they then asked him "What would it take then ..." his answer "a King's ransom ..." to which everyone laughed. Don't take the whole thing too seriously. titanruss
ok ok ok... still... the urgency to trade is coming through pretty loud.
BudsOilers
I think it's a simple case of various media people asking him about it and beloved PFT lives on commenting on various media reports even if it's the same topic over and over. Titan8425
That's it. I've had it...a First year GM has moments (weather it's actual moments or journalist blowing things up) and acts like a First year GM...Fire Him and bring back Webster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Face
Listen, let's call a spade a spade. The pick sucks. There's no chess game to be played here, it's just a matter of how much we're willing to be low balled. Wentz is out only shot, we need 2 teams to fall in love. The Eagles are the way to go, they're the most aggressive team in the league, before & after Chip.
