Titans279
The sense of apathy Jamal speaks of had already pretty much set in for me since it was a forgone conclusion that Whiz would be fired. I was already thinking that this is essentially a lost year for Mariota since whatever system we run will be different next year (but at least he has a higher shot of not getting injured). Same goes for everyone on offense. DGB will have to fail to learn an entirely new playbook next year. There's also the loss of the progress the defense has made. There's no assurance that we'll even be running a 3-4 next year. Do you think that's a consideration when hiring a new coach? Hire a 3-4 DC? Any other conditions they might have for any coaches? You got to think they might make a big deal about the coach having plans for Mariota... They obviously are interested in protecting and developing what they see as their top asset (Mariota). I'd guess an offensive minded coach for that reason. Seems like they basically let Whiz have nearly full control, think they go that route again? MIKE75
14 hours ago, Cyrus said: Jamal, don't forget...before Reynaud there was Ryan Mouton. Mouton believe it or not cost the 2009 Titans a postseason berth which looking back would've been even more incredible if they actually win that Jets game where Mouton fumbled returns twice leading to 14 Jet points. We ended up 8-8 winning if i remember right 7 of the last 8 games. So if Mouton doesn't shit the bed that day the team would've actually ended up 9-7 with a postseason berth after being left for dead early in the season. Why Fisher went into that season neglecting the return game who knows but Mouton turned out to be a real bad choice as returner.
Jamalisms
Before Whiz was fired, I had planned on discussing how this team is so bad you couldn't make even an argument that there was somebody on the bench who could provide a spark if they wanted to shake things up like they did that year when Fisher had them at a 6 game losing streak. We aren't that kind of close and we don't have a VY who ends up winning a bunch somehow. We have Mettenberger... who is winless and has already played during the losing streak. Tex in a Can
Best podcast from the content point of view in a long time, good work guys. Can you promote your interim podcaster, Oilerman, to full time? :o) cheers Tex BTW, my kids call me the king of corny jokes, and the podcast titles fit right in with my droll wordplays. Tex in a Can
One thing I wanted to ask, Oilerman sounds like he's in the same room as y'all, but I think he lives just south of Dallas, so how do you get the sound so good?
Jamalisms
Guru pays to fly us around each week. It's nice but the hotels he chooses can be a bit dirty. You're welcome for the titles.
klaa2
Good work, gents. A lot of bases to cover this week and y'all touched on about everything. I got a chuckle out of Jamal's comment about what happens if the team isn't sold but passed down to more and more heirs, and they'd communicate by sending smoke signals from their secret conclave. The 3 of you seem to be a good balance though.
Cyrus
Not sure if it was mentioned in this podcast or last, but Scotty has repeatedly talked about Beckham's supposed lack of intelligence. I always thought it was a bit curious, because I never got that sense from interviews. I looked through Bob McGinn's scouting reports and came across Beckham's profile. He scored a 20 in the Wonderlic which is probably above average for wide receivers. Amari Cooper scored a 21.

Unfortunately, it'll be Bell. What was this in reference to? Poutasi practiced at G yesterday (although Mularkey said nothing was final or set in stone). We'll see how Bell does at RT with a different passing philosophy but Cox, Searcy and Orakpo have been pretty good. In fact the whole defense looks good with LeBeau. If McCourty and Cox can ever get healthy the defense might be really solid from here on out.

DGB apparently cannot learn the offense but at the same time I've heard the guy talk & he was fairly well spoken, didn't seem slow at all. Hunter is running wrong routes, Wright is having trouble with the offense. The OL are constantly getting confused, blocking the wrong guys & allowing unblocked rushers. Why are these guys having such a difficult time with this offense? PK said a month into the season last year that the players were overwhelmed & Wiz's playbook was massive. It was too complicated.
