Soccer

This is the biggest deal. Our premiere athletes play other sports. In other countries, their greatest athletes play soccer.... as this transistions more and more, and people get to see the CJ's and Megatrons and Lebrons move to soccer, the US will have larger success on the world stage and soccer will grow.

Yeah that's it. The top athletes are going to be migrating to soccer.

Wasn't this supposed to happen in 1994? It's amazing that we aren't now discussing the Seattle Sounders, let by LeBron James, going up against the New England Revolution, let by Mike Trout. Who had a big victory over Real Salt Lake, led by superstar Tudd Gurley.

So people are coming up from Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil by foot?

How about the Dominicans? Are they walking through the Atlantic Ocean to get here?

This is not about Mexico. I get your point about Mexico.

If they are trying to float here... where else would they go? How would they float to canada safely if they can barely float to Florida? Again.. we are the only place by water they can safely go. We are also the FIRST viable place for workers if they are traveling by ground. So yeah, we are still the closest.

Everyone in the third world would move to sweden if they had access. But they dont have funds to get there.

So what do you think people in Seattle would care about more? A new NHL team or the Sounders? And I'm not talking about attendance. What would generate better ratings or more talk? Which team would have a more active message board?

Also, NHL arenas only hold 20K. That stadium in Seattle is obviously huge.

Sounders no question.

"The Seattle Sounders, America's most-watched team, attracts larger crowds for home games than Everton, Tottenham, Aston Villa or even Chelsea."

These guys are freaking fantastic.

They will migrate as paychecks increase.... paychecks increase as fan support increases... fan support (as shown in this thread) is increasing.

lol you want to know how popular soccer is right now in this country? Go to cbssports.com right now. Check out the sports listen on the top. Okay, fine. Then highlight the heading "more." You know what you don't see?

CBS considers bowling more popular than soccer. haha

Scine, you have not clue what you are talking about. Yes, tons of people from South and Central America make the dangerous journey through Mexico ever year. They can't fucking afford plane tickets.

PFFT - Let them EAT cake!

Soccer is so awesome, Cyrus has to make up words to adequately express the level of required athleticism. Let's that sink in.

Jamal, you know I would never do that! :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proprioception

Proprioception essentially means perceiving one's body in space. Exteroception just meaning the ability to perceive things outside one's body. Or basically, the fundamental elements of being coordinated and also perceiving things spatially.

Quick someone check the creation date on the wiki article.

Check the attendance numbers, check the polls that Jamal sent you.... get back to me with any single fact.

Here are some TV ratings for you for the Sounders.

Meaningless. Wake me up when some media outlet actually pretends to care about soccer (compared to the major sports). I just showed you one of the most popular sports websites in this country. They don't even acknowledge that it exists!

I'll turn on SportsCenter or ESPN News tomorrow. You know what I won't hear about?

Check that link- Sounders TV ratings beat out 3 game 7's last year.

"The Sounders have officially tapped into something more than just soccer fans. We talked about it last week, in how the team is becoming much more than just a niche TV market. We have seen a major local radio program put on a prime-time Tuesday evening hour-long broadcast in Seattle Soccer Talk

We even mentioned it would be nice to see what the team could do in a prime-time event. We now have the answer. To give you some more insight, 1 ratings point is equal to nearly 20,000 televisions tuned int. So a 4.4 means nearly 90,000 televisions while the game was at home with 38,000 + in attendance."

Sounders are king in Seattle for good reason.

Yeah the Sounders are bigger than the Seahawks and Mariners. Okay.
