Yeah...I was wondering if "they" missed the part where he basically shitted on Mett.

I didn't miss it but the dude only watched two games and I'd bet his first start vs Houston was one of them. I respect his opinion on Mett though I obviously disagree with it.

Gower didn't like Mett coming out of college. Essentially nothing's going to change his mind. Mett would have to win leagues MVP completeing 72% with 5,500 yards and only 3 int's on the year. Even a Brady like 62% on the year isn't going to do it for him. IMO.

I can get to a place where I'll admit Mett won't be a franchise QB. If he regresses and starts pegging defenders in the chest with the ball on the regular, then it's a wrap. But, in 3 years that has not happened. The sample size is starting to get rather large, leading me to believe Mett is a player on the rise.

I was just going to say this, Gower flat out admitted to hating Mett coming out of college. He also said basically nothing was going to change his mind. At least he admitted he doesn't really like this type of QB, that's fine with me.

On the other hand, thus far I am closer to right, and the bulk of the NFL and Media is closer to wrong regarding Mett.

So far, I've viewed your Mett homerism as humorous and you've even rolled with some of the playful jabs thrown at you by this board, but this is very egotistical.

Are you really suggesting that the people that get paid to critique NFL/college football players for a living are all wrong if they think Mett isn't as great as you proclaim him to be?

Did you not hear Cossell on Midday today @Stranger? It's not as if I'm alone in thinking he's got the goods. Phil Simms to name another.

That is exactly what I'm saying. You call it egotistical, I call it logical. They bypassed Mett in the draft, some teams took him entirely off their boards(Vikings being one of them).

He proceeds to earn a starting spot less than half way into the year(less than a year from a serious knee injury), in all likelihood the coach wanted him in there sooner. The kid has serious game. He's going to be a quality NFL starter, be it in Tennessee or elsewhere.

I think Mett definitely has the toolset to be a good QB, but don't you think your being a little too biased? Especially considering you admittedly followed Mett here after being a Vikings fan? You've all but hand carved his HOF bust by hand already. You feel most every one else is wrong regarding him, yet somehow your opinion is the only one that could be correct.

Can you see why most don't see your point of view as being objective?

@Stranger, I look at the quality of play and I make a judgement-considering circumstances and variables.  I can't be more objective than that.  Wasting time pondering whether or not others view my perspective as biased or not is not something I concern myself with.  For the record I haven't said Mett will be a hall of famer.  Putting him among the top 10-12 QB's hardly lands him in the hall of fame.  It merely lands him among QB's that give their team the best shot at success. 

 

He can make every NFL throw and is accurate, moves very well for a QB who is not mobile, sees and reads the field very well, doesn't get rattled by noise around him(which really cannot be taught).  He is extremely tough, a hard worker, smart-in fact does process things quickly.  Basically he's everything you want in a QB. 

 

People have created a very much false and lazy narrative against him, that has been smashed into nothing.  Cossell said had he been taken round 2 Tennessee wouldn't even be considering a QB based on the way Mett played-and I believe that to be accurate.  So he said he'd leave the position alone, and so would I. 

 

But why be such a diehard Mettenberger fan? Why not Rodgers, for example? He's considered an elite QB.

 

What is it about Mettenberger that entices you so much that you quit being a Vikings fan to be a Titans fan if you only see him as merely a QB that gives his team the best chance to succeed, and not a HOF'er?

 

What makes him so special to you? What is the connection?

I think there is more to it than that. I don't believe you go from following his college career to following the team he's drafted by, in the 6th round no less, when the team you were rooting for, the Vikings had just drafted a promising QB in Bridgewater.

That's more than just simple admiration. There are players I like and follow that aren't on the Titans, but I don't stop following the Titans to follow their team instead, while insisting I know better than the people that get paid to critique for a living.

Honestly, are you related to him? Do you know him personally, or a friend of the family or something? Come clean. It would make a lot of sense if any of those were the case, and your admiration of him would at least be understandable. Otherwise, it borders on unhealthy fanaticism.

Cosell is a 100% right, if Mett was a 2nd rounder Mariota would never be an option. No one would talk about us considering a QB.

These are all people I've had face to face conversations with, on more than one occasion.  Lived in the neighborhood with a lot of them.  I'm not someone who's remotely phased by meeting/talking to athletes, entertainers, world leaders(and yes I've met them too). 

 

This isn't some infatuation for me.  It's simply football, and a fondness for playing it the right way.  But if you want to make things out to be more than they are, knock yourself out.  Do not care one way or another whether I ever meet or speak to Mettenberger.  Literally could not care any less than I do about that. 

 

I know the popular opinion is that Teddy is a promising young QB, and to an extent that's true.  But, it's pretty clear he's not among the leagues elite.  As much as people like to make fun of the article, I didn't see any articles stating Teddy was the next Brady.    Don't think we'll have to worry about such articles either. 

Who was the worst person you spoke to on the list?  Worst defined here as a total jerk.

 

Also, how was Warren Moon?  I'm am an old Oiler fan and would like to know what you thought of him.
