Different standards for different people.

If Ben Roethlisberger did this, the rhetoric would be completely different.

Ben Roethlisberger is also an accomplished NFL player who's been in the league for 11 years.

Winston wants to be taken seriously as an NFL player and he seems to care more about things not related to his job.

The name of the forum is "Titans and 'NFL' talk." You could choose not to comment if you have no interest in the thread.

Or I could chose to express my opinion that its's not very relevant to the titans.

Like I said, he didn't do anything wrong but Jameis really needs to lie low for the next few months. Nothing he does publicly is likely to paint him in a positive light. There are a lot of people who already don't like him or are very ready to not like him so it's best if he just keeps his name out of the media for a while. It may not be fair but if he wants to be drafted as high as possible it's in his best interest.

There's nothing really wrong with it. It just makes him seem like a very self-important person and that rubs some people the wrong way. I couldn't possibly care less.

If by self-important you mean improving his potential wealth then fuck, I wanna be self-important too.

I think the NFL needs to look into this and see if it's true.  If so, they should ban any team from drafting JDub before the 4th round.  Also, put in place a no draft pick trade clause for Jameis.  If any team traded picks for this CLOWN, they would additionally have to forfeit the same amount of picks to all the teams with QB who can't play as well as him.  Nip it in the bud.  Nip it in the bud.

and if he was smart he would have told them to hold off on that for a bit. Your right and it doesn't actually matter.

He will however get criticized for this..he already is and not just on this board.

It hurts his image.

Hurts his image? FOH with that logic.

The Winston slurpers are out in full force. Didn't see any of you guys acting like this when people ragged on Manziel because he's a selfish prima donna

Only person I've ever been.critical of on this type of shit is Kenny Hill when his folks TM'd Kenny Trill. Dude had played one good game and trademarked that name. 3 games later dude is beNched. JFF, JW, and Russell Wilson had all accomplished shit before they did it.

I know he's your guy but a move like this does make him look self important. The trade-marking of his name implies that he believes he will be such as star in the league that he will be able to make money from his nickname alone. While I don't mind the confidence of him betting on himself, you have to accept the fact that from the outside it looks like a guy who hasn't accomplished jack shit in the NFL already behaving as though he will be a star. Look at how stupid Manzeil trade marking "Johnny Football" now looks in retrospect.

It just comes off like he's getting ahead of himself and an action like this could have been done much later in this draft process and ideally after the draft. I know you don't necessarily care but for Jameis, how the general public views him does matter.
