JLocker10
Too many people are hung up on what round Mettenberger was originally drafted in. I agree that people get too hung up on a guy's draft slot. If the guy can play he can play. Just look at 3/4 of Seattle's starting secondary in the SB. Sherman (5th round pick), Chancellor (5th round pick), Maxwell (6th round picks). It doesn't happen all the time, but there are plenty of instances where some guys vastly end up outperforming their draft slot. At the end of the day, the draft is a projection not a guarantee. I don't think anyone cares that Victor Cruz was an UFA at this point. Coughlin has said he had no idea whatsoever Cruz would be that good. They didn't think they pulled a steal. They just signed him to be a camp body and he obviously ended up being way better than a camp body.
WG53
Or you have no interest in admitting you are way off about Mett? I haven't been wrong. Funny how people on this board value preseason so much.
OILERMAN
How far would Manziel fall?

Tim
He should have been drafted higher than Jake Locker was drafted, I do know that. He's more polished and more talented than Locker. Plain and simple.
WG53
Who didn't see that response coming? Everyone on here is putting way too much stock in how a rookie performs in preaseason against backups running vanilla plays with no scheming. He hasn't proven shit. japan
I'd say after 3 preseason games the draft would change a ton if held again Doubtful

He hasn't proven shit. Anyone say he has proven shit? I know I didn't. But I do remember you saying he wasn't any good and was as talented as the average sixth rounder. Sticking by that? IsntLifeFunny
How far would Manziel fall? 6th round, where the all seeing eye of the draft should have properly placed him.
OILERMAN
DoubtfulIf If 3 preseason games were included in the evaluation heading into the draft it would outweigh everything else by a mile
OILERMAN
I think Lewan would be the first OT off the board in a redraft

japan
3 preseason games wouldn't change much except St. Louis would probably draft a QB. Teams don't put all of the work into scouting these guys to flip the pick after 3 preseason games. Some guys are expected to come along slower but have a higher ceiling. japan
But there is no doubt that Mettenberger would be drafted higher. I just don't think you would see much change in the first round.
IsntLifeFunny
He has yet to prove otherwise. You're right. But lets put it a different way: comparing the rookie QBs' performances over 3 games, in which no rookie has taken consistent snaps with the 1s, would you disagree that Mett has been in the upper tier thus far? Don't say it doesn't matter. You've already established that.
