I don’t think he ever had any chance, but he certainly lost any support from the Trump cult by not helping to overturn a democratic election.

Yes, this is always part of the financing package for a new stadium. And it’s nice that Nashville has grown so much as a destination city and has expanded the hotel footprint in town. I wonder if it also taxes AirBnb type vacation rentals…

I guess Pence thinks he is going to run for president…

Did a bunch of farmers tow them away with tractors?
-
I’m sure it is, but an NFL team isn’t moving anywhere without the promise of a brand new stadium, not a quarter century old one.

That shit's even older than Nissan Stadium

There are a lot of things we should be doing to benefit American farmers. Continuing to incentivize a corn monoculture is not one of them. BTW, even in an optimistic hypothetical model where using food to boost fuel successfully cuts fuel costs, it then inherently increases food costs…

Ethanol is stupid beyond use as a fuel additive. Stop turning corn into gasoline.

Mainstream national political media is right wing
Starkiller replied to luvyablue256's topic in Politics
https://www.theguardian.com/media/2022/apr/11/fox-news-viewers-watch-cnn-study?utm_source=digg In an unusual, and labor intensive, project, two political scientists paid a group of regular Fox News viewers to instead watch CNN for a month. At the end of the period, the researchers found surprising results; some of the Fox News watchers had changed their minds on a range of key issues, including the US response to coronavirus and Democrats’ attitude to police. The findings suggest that political perspectives can be changed – but also reveals the influence partisan media has on viewers’ ideology. Polls have previously shown that viewers of Fox News, the most-watched cable news channel in the US, are far more likely to believe the false claim that the 2020 presidential election was stolen than the average American, and are more likely to believe falsehoods about Covid-19. -
I give you dispensation to stop reading this thread then…

While yes, there are some crazies on both sides, don’t pretend it’s the same on both sides. The right is now dominated by the crazies. And it didn’t start with Trump. It has been the case since the rise of the Tea Party.

I’d say any use of chemical weapons would qualify as a game changer
-
I don’t think they want to escalate militarily. Clearly they have been doing everything they could to avoid it since before the invasion started. I just don’t see any other good alternative if Russia is using chemical weapons. Sanctions didn’t stop the invasion or genocide, or (apparently) a chemical weapons attack. I think it’s time that there has to be a direct military involvement, much as I really don’t want that risk.
-
I don’t see NATO troops on the ground at this point (in an offensive capacity), but I could see a no-fly zone or even offensive air support against Russian forces attacking Ukrainian cities. They really can’t just do nothing if Russia is using WMDs. This has been American policy for a long time. Russia really fucked up here unless their goal was for NATO to get involved militarily.
-
If the Russians use chemical weapons in Ukraine, I can honestly see the gloves come off for NATO. I mean, I wonder how they can not at that point?
-
And Trump, too, right?

Ukraine has now officially held on longer than France did during WW2

DON'T YOU DARE MENTION THAT WHITE PEOPLE EVER WERE RACIST AGAINST BLACK PEOPLE!!!

It’s clear you are deeply bought into right wing propaganda

A large percentage of Republicans routinely are against minorities
-
Democrats have to make a big deal out of minority rights because Republicans make it a central issue to make them second class citizens. Dems just need to do a better job of messaging it. They would be better off selling it as “equal rights”.
-
Republicans make everything part of the culture war.
-
Republicans don’t care about competence. They just want to win the seat…

This would be a UN textbook definition of genocide https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-to-fast-track-adoption-of-deported-ukraine-orphans-kyiv-officials-2022-4?utm_source=feedly&utm_medium=webfeeds The Ukrainian Ombudswoman for Human Rights has said that the Russian government is crafting legislation to allow Russians to adopt Ukrainian children forcibly taken to Russia by military forces. She has also stated that, so far, over 121,000 children have been "deported" by the Russian government. In a statement on Facebook, Lyudmila Denisova said that the Russian Federation is changing legislation to allow "the accelerated procedure of adoption of children from Donbas."
