I've changed my tune on the testimony given and provided it with a massive grain of salt. But you and many others are being massive ass hats on this. It's also fine to say, "Fuck if I know" while not believing a TikTok account.
-
Thanks for the recap, @Starkiller
-
Cool, I'll take a listen today.
-
Again, I'm surprised by the staunchest crowd here. Seemingly digging heels in just because it's a safe intellectual space to reside. Really surprised. It feels like a dogma from those who disavow dogma.

Well, several individuals over the decades, including Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldren came forward with questions, not to mention other qualified individuals over the decades. I'll leave my conspiracy manifesto in the next post:
-
Yeah, please share if you have the opportunity and feel that it's worth sharing. Again, I'm open to adjusting my priors on this topic.
-
I honestly think this hypothesis is far more crazy than 3 highly accomplished guys going, "I've seen some shit that I and others don't understand." Your explanation feels more tin hat than anything else in this thread.
-
I'm actually surprised by the pushback on this - it seems more divided than blatantly crazy politics, and not from some people I'd assume the pushback to be from... Maybe I need to adjust my line of thinking, but it feels like a hotly denied topic when it should be at least worth an inquiry.

I really wish someone would scrape the site of all your predictions so we could do a group fact check. If you were as bad at medical predictions as political ones, you would've lost your license long ago. It's amazing the cognitive dissonance you're able to maintain in political regards. Hey doc, his appendix just exploded after years of ingesting garbage. No, idiot nurse, it's just taking a tour of the upper GI. Time will show the evil kidneys and lower GI (the swamp) are all behind this... But doc they're bleeding out! Just give it time, the truth will come. If they die, we'll all know it's a sign from the heart that everyone is corrupt! I'm sad I just had to make that analogy. Fuck me.
-
Don't have time or desire to die on this hill. I may overstated my original stance, but I'll try to simplify it as this: There's a massive distance between thinking the sphinx was built by aliens, they're living and time travelling among us while they're building weather balloons as hobbies AND my standpoint of "fuck if anyone of us actually know, there's still things we haven't figured out in the universe. This seems like something as good as anything to press for more answers and conclusions on if we're already doing it" I just think drawing a hard line on the topic in either direction foolish.
-
Legitimate question: were all the findings released last year by the counsel totally and openly disproven? I found several hypothesis on different videos from experts, but no conclusions. Which is why I thought this was still a discussion in congress.
-
To point towards the testimony (good redirect) what are the benefits of these men lying on the stand in front of the country? There's really no benefit outside of 15 minutes of fame and a ton of recourse if they're lying - maybe moreso if they're not lying.
-
Again, not here to argue, but I do think it's a fascinating topic that seems to hit people in different ways.
-
Yes, they are fucking dumbasses, which I don't think we'll have in this convo unless Little Earl shows up. Due to plenty of evidence I don't believe dumbasses, even if they show up in the senate I think your point about Bigfoot, theology, etc. is interesting - one that I've grappled with as well. At the end of the day, theology is a philosophy, not a science. Bigfoot is a rare subset of zoology and phylogenetics that has fallen off drastically in the past two decades. Meanwhile, some of the brightest minds on this planet are still studying cosmology, our origins, theoretical mathematics and physics with big money behind them and top universities behind them. That pronounces something towards the viability. Not proof, only viability.

Yeah, it's a fine line of being open minded and a skeptic, but an important line to tow. If someone tells me of a virgin birth, gonna have a hard time with it. If schizophrenic aunt Karen is running from little green men, hard pass. But sometimes people are telling the truth, even if it's hard to digest. The atom bomb was incomprehensible 80 years ago.
-
Well, your last party is just being obtuse for the sake of this argument. I don't think anyone with an iota of intelligence thinks aliens are sending stupid ass balloons to visit earth And I hear your point. The universe is incomprehensible in size while expanding at ever faster speeds. So, we could all be so distance it doesn't matter. I think one factor you're not accounting for is time. Your probability is based on stats from here and now, not the fact that the universe is what, 25B years old? Earth only started to support native life 2B years ago? Humans 200k years? Those are monstrous numbers for others places to develop in space, time, tech, etc. Again, healthy skeptic, just pointing out some things as a devil's advocate.
-
So several decades of highly intelligent and professional individuals claiming they've seen things that they can't understand don't even constitute an ounce of curiosity? Do you need the dead aliens from Independence day drug into the v senate before its consider? Not stoking the fire, just interested in your criteria for evidence. Based on this line of thinking, should not every criminal in the 80's be pardoned because only a handful of experts agreed on DNA evidence?
-
Yeah, I don't have a dog in the hunt by any means. Won't upend my world if it's not real, but the pieces are there for it to quickly and/or quietly unfold into fact, depending on further information that comes out. I liken it into an anthill in South America not thinking there could be an anthill Africa then raise that to an exponent that's difficult to grasp. But TBD... with an open and discerning mind.
-
Agreed, it'll need extraordinary evidence to prove it, which is proper science. There's just a little too much smoke to not entertain the idea. Mathematics/statistics already lean towards the fact without physical evidence. But saying it's not a very distinct possibility is akin to laughing at Galileo before his theories were fully proven out.
-
Typically, I dismiss conspiracy theories because 1) there's little merit from any sort of science 2) there's no reason to cover it up 3) it's wackos trying to sell something else beyond their conspiracy 4) people spouting it are stupid 5) people can't keep secrets This is one of those rare ones where it really upends that criteria. Things make a little too much sense, but society is wholly incapable of processing even the possibility right now. Not saying "yes". Not saying "no". But I think arrogance/ignorance only allow for a staunch response of "no"

Stage-r is quite the appropriate name.

@nine for congress! Take on MTG!
-
After 20 years, I'm still waiting for just one of your conspiracies to come true!

Very simple 40 second Google search says that whatever this movie is was filmed in 2018. Qanon was picking up steam in 2017. Do ever get tired of being so wrong about so much shit, regardless of topic? Jesus H. Christ, I'm tired of seeing it. Can't imagine having to live like that. Regardless of what your overarching point is, you can't get the basic facts right.
