We're one legit DE away from me giving this offseason an A+

Give me Abraham and Sedrick Ellis and release a couple of these scrubs.  They can make the cap room and improve the defense still.

Abraham, Hill, Casey, Morgan as your starters with Edwards, Wimbley and maybe Solomon rotating at DE.  Martin, Ellis, and maybe Klug or even Harris can rotate at DT.

THANK YOU!

I don't know the fixation with these average space-wasters like Klug/Harris/etc. These guys have done NOTHING to improve themselves or the defense as a whole.

Cut these fuckers!

Ellis hasn't lived up to his draft status...

Even then though he would be an upgrade to Klug as one of the rotational players at DT

I'd like to see us switch to a 5-2-4 defense

DE - Morgan

DT - Martin

DT - Hill

DT - Casey

DE - Wimbley

LB - Ayers

LB - Brown

that front only on run downs...

Ayers would fit better at DE in this alignment. McCarthy or Gooden at LB

If things work out with Abraham over the next few days, then that A+ could be well deserved. Things are definitely looking up, but there is still a long way to go here.

So these 6 are locks.. Hill, Casey, Martin, Wimberly, Morgan, Edwards.. that leaves Klug, Harris/Clayton/Charles/ Pitatoi, and  Dawson.. if I had to guess today the pass rushing DL will look like Wimberly, Klug, Harris, and Morgan/ Dawson

I think that we will see a lot of Hill on passing downs, along with Klug. Hill is good at shooting the gaps, and even for a big guy he's still better against the pass than the run.

If Abraham is signed, then Pitoitua's slim chance of making the team pretty much drops to none. Clayton and Dawson are obviously huge long shots as well.

A 3-4 & a 5-2 are essentially the same front.

Only the DE's have their hands in the ground and cant slide into coverage as easily.

I'd prefer a 3-4 where my OLBs can be more versatile.

Wouldn't mind some 4-6 on running downs or in goal line situations though.

You almost never see a front with 5 players on the line(maybe goaline), OLBs in a 3-4 have the ability to drop back or rush. And 5-2 front would have 5 player on the DL

“People get into this 3-4 or 4-3 thing. Well, a lot of teams play a lot of three-down (linemen) looks on third down, so they already have that scheme in, in a way,”

3 down lineman on passing downs.... Exactly what I've said in the past. Ayers stands up at DE a lot and it just hides his intentions.

They are not lining up in a 3-4 base defense with a NT, two DEs over the OTs and 4 LBs. Any 3 man DL will be nickel or dime defenses

Titans could use more 3-4 this year

April 3rd, 2013 | by JOHN GLENNON, The Tennessean

The Titans will still use the 4-3 as a base defense, but adding some players who fit the 3-4 mold will allow for more flexibility, according to defensive coordinator Jerry Gray.

“I think with the personnel that Ruston (Webster) and the guys upstairs have given us, it gives us a possibility to do more of that, to where we can go out there and maybe play 8-10 snaps of game (in the ‘3-4’)and not have to take our good football players off the field,” Gray said.

Gray doesn't say 3-4, Glennon does. In fact Gray specifically says a 4-3 defense is their base. Gray is talking about leaving Ayers on the field in the nickel(and not have to take our good football players off the field).

Munchak specifically mentioned passing downs when talking about the subject. They are talking about things like Ayers at DE with 3 other DL, the 3 safety look etc.... Not a true 3-4 defense.

What is this, like the 5 or 6th off season in a row people have said the Titans will be running some 3-4 defense? I haven't seen the Titans in an actual 3-4 front in years, for even one play. I'm talking 3 down lineman and 4 LBs.
