Justafan
Here is my current list of top prospects based off of Mayocks top 100 rankings which I think are pretty much the best stuff out there right now. Players I would like the Titans to look really, really hard at based on my own evaluations are denoted by an asterisk. I left off certain players who I don't think the Titans have any interest in due to lack of fit, lack of need or lack of chemistry. If I have time later today, i'll do something similar for guys who might be available where we pick in the third round as well. 1. Eddie Lacy, RB- Lacy is an intriguing RB and could certainly help the Titans backfield. He's a powerful runner who has good feet and above average vision. My problem is he's too slow at the next level and he played behind far and away the best Oline in college football. Both Trent Richardson and Mark Ingram were better prospects coming out. Richardson is a dominant RB for the Browns but Ingram has been a bust for the Saints. The Titans have much bigger needs than a backup running back and Lacy doesn't provide enough value at the position for the Titans to look at him very hard. 2. Jonathan Cyprien, S- Hits really hard. Plays with an attitude. Holds up well in the run game and is an intimidator over the middle of the field. I still don't really like him even though I think he's the most talented guy still available. He projects as a FS but he lacks the range to drop back in to single deep coverage and be a center fielder like Michael Griffin. He prefers to hit rather than wrap up and tackle and that can lead to a lot of bad plays in the NFL. Wouldn't be upset with the pick but not my first choice. 3. Tank Carradine, DE- The Titans could desperately use a rotational DE and this guy is the top rated DE on the board. My problem with him though is even though he produced some sacks, he looks like a run defender when I watch him and easily neutralized by talented tackles in most passing situations. Even when he beat his man, he had a hard time finishing the play. I don't think he's going to add anything to the pass rush and I think if they wanted a guy like this, they should have pursued one in FA. The draftniks have him rated high and he put up decent stats but I think he's overrated. 4. Arthur Brown, ILB- Things I look for in an inside linebacker are athleticism, size, instincts, tackling and most importantly is he always around the ball. Brown is athletic but nothing that's going to blow you away. He's undersized for the position. He overruns the play and doesn't display great instincts. The only thing I like about him is he always seems to be around the ball. The guy is a football player but I see him as more of a weakside prospect at the next level. The Titans need a guy that can play all three spots but especially the ILB position and Brown is not that guy IMO. *5. Jamar Taylor, CB- The Titans really could use another talented corner to upgrade their pass defense. They have some guys leaving next year and Verner is a better fit in the slot than on the outside. Taylor get's beat sometimes close to the line of scrimmage but he has good deep speed and play's physical. Not bad in run defense and even though he doesn't have elite size, he's plenty big enough to play on the outside. There were CB's in the first that I liked much better but Taylor is a guy the Titans should definitely take a look at as he's a talented prospect at a position of need. *6. Kevin Minter, ILB- 3 down LB who likes to live in the backfield. He led a talented LSU defense in tackles for loss with 15. Fights through blocks and has good instincts. Doesn't have elite speed and is going to get beat by speedy TEs and WRs but makes up for it by taking good angles and good tackling. With 130 tackles, this guy was a tackling machine and rarely got beat to the ball. He can cover, tackle and blitz. I'm really shocked that this guy didn't go in the first round. Only LB in this draft that can come in and fight for a starting spot day one. McCarthy is the starter but if the Titans were to take Minter, they wouldn't have to rely on McCarthy so much. Both of these guys can play in the Nickel packages and whoever loses the battle for starter could backup all three positions and provide excellent depth. It would also give the Titans more flexibility with 3-4 alignments if the Titans choose to run more of those type formations. Definitely a player that the Titans should take a close look at if he's available. *7. Justin Hunter, WR- After injuring himself in the 2011 season, he struggled with catching the ball in 2012. Having said that, he has great size and speed, he showed great hands in 2011, and he does a good job of catching away from the body and tracking the ball over his shoulder. He can line up in the slot or he can play on the outside. Runs good routes and does a good job of creating separation. If not for mental lapses this past year, he would easily be considered the top wideout in this draft. A risky pick in the first round, could be great value in the second. The Titans desperately need a guy who can play in the slot and backup Kenny Britt. They have the luxury of not having to rush him into the starting lineup. And seeing how he develops for a year. Would create leverage for negotiations with Kenny Britt and a good chance that he makes Washington expendable. Definitely a guy worth looking at. *8. Zach Ertz, TE- When I watch this guy on film, he is the real deal. He blocks, he catches, he beats big guys over the middle and overpowers small guys over the top. The guy had 70 catches and almost 900 yards receiving but was also a big factor in the run game proving to be a capable blocker as well. Tough, physical guy who has a high motor and makes the tough catch. I know a lot of guys were absolutely in love with Eifert but personally I think Ertz might be a better overall prospect. The Titans don't have a huge need at TE and I don't think this is the direction that they want to go in but this guy is so talented that they have to at least take a look at him. 9. Cornelius Washington, OLB- A projected player with little production at the college level. He's projected this high because of his size and performance at the combine. This is a classic athlete player that isn't nearly as good of a football player that always gets overdrafted because of what some guy sees him becoming five years down the road. He does fit a position of need but I really hope the Titans pass on this guy as there should be much better prospects left on the board by the time they pick. 10. Terron Armstead, OT- Another talented olineman. Some would argue that the Titans have invested enough in the Oline and others would argue that they should be looking to the future and get a guy that can eventually replace Stewart who many project to depart after the season ends. Armstead is a talented tackle that could play either guard or stay on the outside as a RT. This is a good value pick but I have a hard time seeing the Titans going Oline in both the first and second rounds. I think they will look for a guy like Brian Schwenke later on but not this early. Cyrus
Hey Cy, what are your thoughts on Carradine? Did he start over Bjoern Werner before he got injured? I'm leaning towards him at #40, but I'm wondeing if he'll make it past Jax. Both Werner and Carradine started once Brandon Jenkins was injured. He's an intriguing guy who has size and length. He plays with powerful hands and has some lateral quickness but may not be a very explosive player. I would definitely gamble on him in the second round. reo
They brought in Vaccaro, Reid, Elam and Cyprien. They're obviously looking at safety right here. Hopefully he falls to us.

He was the much more impressive player over the second half of the season. Werner tailed off after his hot start.
volntitan
What about Demontre Moore? Kid looked to be a top 5 pick until workouts and fell like a rock. But can't overlook what he did in pads against top competition.
cenj
So pissed the Ravens grabbed Elam...guy is gonna be a top safety in this league on that defense.

Justafan
What about Demontre Moore? Kid looked to be a top 5 pick until workouts and fell like a rock. But can't overlook what he did in pads against top competition. If you're referring to my post, I based those choices on Mayocks top players still available and then talked about the guys I liked the best from that list. Moore wasn't in his top 20 players still available.
Justafan
Give me Eifert in the second, Honey Badger in the third, Ryan Swope at the end of the third and I would be a really, really happy guy. No way that happens but a guy can dream right?

volntitan
Don't want any part of Honey Badger...too much PacMan in him.

Justafan
Don't want any part of Honey Badger...too much PacMan in him. Difference is Pacman went 6th overall and Honeybadger will go in the third or fourth. He has all of the talent but far less risk.
