scine09
I figured we'd start a discussion on this since there's not much going on. I think it's Matt Ryan. I always hear that he's a top 10 QB yet he's stunk in every playoff game he's ever been in and he doesn't seem to be a guy who can carry a team on his back. Guest
Peyton Manning.
reo
Flacco? Josh Freeman? Then there's always Cam but he's only had 1 year so hard to really tell w/ him. Not really considered top QBs but I think they're overrated. Vick, from a straight up QB standpoint anyway? I would say Big Ben but he's shown more these past couple years. scine09
Freeman I think is more of a 1-year wonder. He's dropped significantly in the public eye. I don't think Flacco is ranked that highly but isn't as bad as people think. He outplayed Brady in the AFC Championship game last year.
Legaltitan
Correct - Flacco is slightly underrated, if anything.
heyitsmeallen
Tim Tebow... yep i said it.
scine09
No one who knows anything about football rates Tebow as anything but a well below average starting QB.
Jamalisms
Top 5 in the AFC: Mark Sanchez was for up there for awhile but people are beginning to sour on him finally. Andrew Luck is up there now, not because he lacks talent but because he hasn't done crap and the rush to preemptively declare him elite is obnoxious. Why we can't wait to let him get there first is beyond me. Peyton Manning is up there because people present him as likely to be what he was and there's no certainty he will... and even if he is able to make up for his diminishing physical abilities with mental capacity, team circumstance matters and who knows if that will crystallize into anything similar to what he found in Indy. Oakland fans think Palmer will be great despite all recent interception evidence to the contrary. The rapist in Spittsburgh is overrated, but has grown into a quality QB. Big Ben may not have the pure passing ability of some of the best, but his escability, toughness and clutchness is off the charts.. I dont like the steelers but I have always been fond of Big Ben just because he has that toughness and never quit that McNair had.
TitanHead
Matt Schaub...always injured and I hate the Texans!
Guest
Matt Ryan without a doubt. He' a prototypical game manager that the media acts like is on the cusp of breaking into the top 5. It's a Joke. As for Schaub, he's much better than most Titans fans give him credit for.
Cyrus
Probably Cam Newton at this point. He showed a lot of poise his first season but there's no way he's already a Top 10 QB like some media analysts are making him out to be. To me, Matt Ryan is just "rated". He's definitely around the 8-10th best QB range. He's only played 4 seasons in the NFL and he's generally gotten better each year. Having a less-conservative offensive coordinator will probably help him in the playoffs as he won't be stuck with a run-first offense that puts him in bad passing situations. begooode
For a refernce I have copied Jaworski's QB rankings. Off the cuff, I'm thinking Sanchez for sure and maybe Stafford are overrtated Aaron Rodgers Drew Brees Tom Brady Peyton Manning Eli Manning Ben Roethlisberger Philip Rivers Jay Cutler Joe Flacco Tony Romo Matt Ryan Michael Vick Matt Schaub Matthew Stafford Cam Newton Alex Smith Josh Freeman Matt Hasselbeck Andy Dalton Sam Bradford Carson Palmer Matt Cassel Mark Sanchez Ryan Fitzpatrick Kevin Kolb Matt Moore Matt Flynn Christian Ponder Blaine Gabbert Tim Tebow
Cyrus
From that list: Overrated: Jay Cutler, Joe Flacco, Roethlisberger (slightly) Underrated: Matt Ryan, Tony Romo, Matthew Stafford, Ryan Fitzpatrick
TampaTitan
I'm just glad we made Cam look like a complete turd last year. I think Vick is the most overrated. And also, everyone down here still seems to think Freeman is going to be one of the best in the league.
