I would say short term survival/procreation is the idea for natural selection. Human level intelligence and ability to manipulate our surroundings breaks Evolution to an extent. Or should I say we rewrote the rules for better or worse. We completely broke a few animals playing god, sorry pugs. We also made some plants and animals vastly more useful from the human perspective through manipulation. Some idiots who would never have survived do now and people who could not now do so for the betterment of society.
