I might go visit my buddy in Georgia.  He supposedly lives in a very white neighborhood.  He's a huge white dude and he relocated with his Mexican wife to the countryside.  And her whole family lives nearby so I'll eventually find out how they coping.

Got to meet them last year near Oakland, CA for a mutual friend's wedding and his Latina wife was freaked out by the neighborhood.  I was thinking, "Woman. You got soft!"  Oakland is probably more dangerous than most of LA but shit. They've only been in white country for like 5 years and she can't handle the ghetto no more? She grew up here LOL

Honestly, you might have a great time and nothing bad happens at all. My first roommate in college was a white kid who'd never seen a black person in real life until he met me and he was cool af. I don't think anything close to the majority of white people are actively racist which makes encountering the ones that are that much more jarring. Frankly, interpersonal racism, while vile and disgusting, isn't really the problem. It's all the structural stuff that causes the real harm. Some singular broke dude with 0 power can't really wield his racism to hurt too many people's economic future. All he can do is make himself look stupid on the internet and have people try to get him fired from a job he doesn't have lmao.

6 feet under ground...

Let me tell you guys about rural conservatives for a moment. Today I worked with a guy at the head of a major business council in Wyoming at the cross section between EDC's, Chamber, and the governmen

Yeah, me being pearly white and living where I do in western middle TN, I could, if I wished, get daily reminders of the racism of conservatives.  And this isn't me being selective, this is just the t

@Mythos27 It appears the majority of board right wingers aren't aware of what's going and don't care to look into it and understand it.   They just see "nazis" and "racists" and ignore.  This is what they've done for a long time.  Look the other way when aspects of what the left says is still there presents itself.

I get it.  The left went over the top with many opinions from the right that wasn't necessarily racist in nature.  So they ignore it.  But this is the underlying rot that has been there and we've been saying exists.  And it's gaining more influence....and they are allowing it to happen because they ignore it.  At some point, if they don't acknowledge and look into it, they are simply complicit.

Thanks to Dan for at least making an attempt, although he distracted and started talking about his own life experiences, which is fine, but not commenting on the point of the thread.

The left over played the racist card, and the right now completely ignores the racist elements in their party which gains more ground every day.  Everyone is so tired of politics as normal, when their party is in power they step away.  Those with power or access to power, take advantage of this.

This all might be explained away as just not being as involved in politics since it's their party in charge.  But just the simple fact we're seeing videos of brown people, even citizens, are being dragged away be masked "officers" with no identification, and they don't care.  I'm hoping it's politics fatigue and not complicity.  I would really appreciate one "conservative" saying what's going on isn't acceptable.  That would at least give me hope they are paying attention to the deeper shit going on.  It won't happen on this board.  I hope it's happening on more conservative boards.

I think I have to live in a certain area that has white racists to really deal with any substantial racism.  I personally don't care to do so.  But who knows. My dad was in the US Army so as a kid, moved around from Alabama to North Carolina to supposedly somewhere in Texas.  I only remember what I think was Alabama.

Regardless. I think it's just a people problem.  White people are flawed just like the rest of us.  If I come across enough of them, I'll inevitably meet assholes.

In regards to your statement about racists with power and influence. Yes. Agreed.  That is a problem. (The main reason behind my libertarian leanings is that I trust no one) Whether their motivation is race related or just general malevolence, I would like to equip myself so that I will not be forced to rely on their influence or power.  In order to do that, we as minorities need to become self sufficient and powerful.  I do not put it past evil people of all kinds doing evil shit to the weaker/poorer class.  Tale as old as time.  There is no historical era of any culture where this hasn't happened.

There will never be a shortage of victims or oppressors.  Our goal should be to become strong and rich enough that we will not be phased by the powerful class (whomever they may be).  I genuinely hope you and your family become so incredibly prosperous and powerful, that you will never get taken advantage of by evil people, my friend.

I agree, which is why I HEAVILY support economic left politics that serve as the proverbial tide that lifts all boats. I'm sure that this is where I lose you lol. That said, I think that people of color catching up economically is the only thing that will keep them at least somewhat protected from systemic racism until we can actually outgrow this stupid tribalism instinct.

Yeah it's an issue. The real racists on the right won't acknowledge the issues because then they lose their fig leaf and non-racists conservatives can't talk about it because then it's admitting the liberals were right. Plus, I imagine that for someone on the right that isn't racist, it must be really embarrassing to be associated with people like that and I understand the instinct to turn a blind eye rather than to potentially be lumped in with them. I'd hate to be associated with some of the more cringe shit I hear on the extreme far left so I get it.

The problem is that at this point, embarrassment is a small price to pay. These nazi mofos have their eyes set on taking over the republican party once Trump stumbles into obscurity and dies not too long after. The left can fight them but the marks on the right have already been programmed by the Trump era to mistrust anything that comes out of the left, the news, the courts, other countries, science, etc. The only people that are in position to defeat them are non-nazi conservatives and this group is becoming a dying breed one conspiracy theory at a time. It feels dirty rooting for the establishment republicans but shit, what other hope do we have?

If you can show me an example of a politically progressive (minority run would be even better) city that improves the lives of the minorities that live there and brings prosperity to the lower class, I'd be open to finding out how that happened and be more open to the economic policies of the left.

There are a LOT of Koreans here depending on government handouts as well.  I have friends who live in low income housing.  One works at a dead end job and does the bare minimum because if he earns a penny over whatever amount ($20k?), he and his mom cannot stay in the three bedroom apartment for approximately $600/month (water utility included).  A similar apartment would go for $2,500-$3,500 in LA.  He has no incentive to work at a better job.  Even then, he calls me up to borrow money on a regular basis.

I told him if he wants to find a girl and get married one day, he needs to get over that and just start grinding and get his finances in order but he's kind of set in his ways.  Sucks because I know he wants to.  But how's he going to go from making less than $20k a year to having to pay even for a one bedroom $20k ($1.6k x 12 = $19,200) a year on rent alone?  This is just one example but I don't consider this guy a victim.  The government program's supposed to be there to help him and, in theory, it's actually an awesome thing that they are offering.  However, I've seen it in practice for too long and it incentivizes people to stay stuck.  I'm not any better than this guy.  I might've been in the same rut my friend's in if I were in his situation but I was forced to hustle early on in life since I didn't know how the hell I was going to pay rent.

I guess we all have reasons why we believe in our own political philosophies.  Progressivism hasn't worked where I live and honestly, while I love the people here, I can't wait to get out.

Let's say for the sake of the argument, neo-Nazis do end up taking over the party.  What percentage of the current Trump base DO YOU THINK would align with them (Neo-Nazis) and out of curiosity (and for shits an giggles) what percentage of the Harris voters will align with them?

Every time someone mentions Nazis I think of the Amazon Video series "Man in the High Castle."  What could've been if Germany and Japan won WWII.  Never finished the series but interesting concept.

Of the current Trump base maybe like 10 % would be true-believers and go willingly but I do think that politically probably 80-90% would just go along with it because they hate/mistrust the dems so much. Percentage of Harris voters is much harder to peg. Misogyny and racism tend to be pretty strongly linked so while I'm sure some percentage of Harris voters carry more prejudices than they think I doubt that very many are racist enough to switch sides to join literal neo-nazis of all people. That said, maybe I'm wrong so let's go with something between 1-3%.

None of my conservatives are outward Nazis and none of them like Nick Fuentes.  But I'm in LA and my reach to middle America is almost nonexistent so maybe you're right.

What are you talking about? He was saying he doesn't see white racism very often. I told him that's because he lives in Cali where it is an extremely integrated society. I'm genuinely not sure what you're on about here.

Please, oh wise whitey, go explain to more minorities just how bad they don’t know they have it.

So you're completely off about how the back and forth went then continue on talking shit for no reason. Got it. I didn't say a single word about his experience or downplay it. Of course he doesn't experience a bunch of white racism living in California. This is literally self-explanatory.

I'm sure he'd have a better chance of experiencing it in less diverse areas of CA but from what he posts, he lives in a pretty multicultural area. Now even in places like that you'll experience inter-racial tensions between ethnic groups because humans are human but you're far less likely to experience the overt kinds of racism from white people that you described. Urban white people that didn't grow up functionally segregated, from my experience, are pretty cool.

That was obviously my point without a single time disparaging what he's seen. Even the racists who live in California know it isn't socially acceptable, so it doesn't come to the surface like in other places. That isn't some strange take. Come to the south and see how that goes.
