People understand when they have the rug pulled out. The fact is they set this line in the sand to get turnout for the November elections and collapsed right after without a single senator being up for re-election. In that measure it's understandable I guess, but what it literally means is they pressed a lever that left millions without a paycheck while disturbing the distribution of SNAP all for political maneuvering. That may play well in the beltway but not at all with the a huge swath of the base. Politics is ugly. I get it. But what this amounts to is political optics and nothing more. yes this is the problem. its the way the folded and how they messaged thats the issue. I warned everyone here there was never an off ramp. You guys didn't listen. Jamalisms, and OILERMAN

I told you there was no off ramp. I told you 2 weeks ago the Dems were lookin for a way to end the shutdown around 11/1 because healthcare premium increase letters were going out. I legitimately thought they were going to force their hand to break the filibuster and deal with the fallout from there.

The Dem base wanted to see them not give in easily so they did it. And it worked. Now they've hit the limit of what they can get so they're moving on. I'm not a fan of the filibuster but the senate loves it and both sides are petrified to lose it. IsntLifeFunny
