Bullshit. Shireen is heir to the Baratheon house, one of the great houses of Westeros. He wouldn't destroy his house or his legacy as he's done in the show. Its way out of character.

Well, according to the show runners this came from GRRM himself. So if the person who created the character has the character do something--it's in that person's character.

This action is completely within the logic of the show and is perfectly in character. I'm guessing Stannis will do something similar in the book, so I'd prepare for it.

Well for anyone who cares to read this, here are my (lengthy) thoughts now that I’ve had a chance to sleep on it.   I’ll start by saying I'm not sure I've ever been more hyped for an episode

I loved the fact that Theon won his fight cause he has no dick. Haha

Thats not what they said. They said and I'm paraphrasing here "She burns". I have a theory on what GRRM means and I suspect events from next week play into it. If TWoW comes out and Stannis burns Shireen, I'll eat crow. At this point in time it goes against his character as defined by GRRM. It's not surprising though. The Show writers have shown an inability to understand the more nuanced parts of the characters.

The heir to a house that has no future if he doesn't win the Iron Throne. And by Westerosi norms, she would have no titles of her own. Plus, who would marry her with her face like that?

There is absolutely nothing in the books that makes me think Stannis would put the life of his daughter over winning the throne that he thinks is rightfully his.

Well, they've set up a battle between two despicable people, and Sansa's freedom hanging in the balance.  I guess I've got to pull for something finally going in Sansa's favor, but Stannis needs to die.

I'm thus far rather unimpressed with the unsullied army.  They don't seem to be the ultimate solider threat they were made out to be.

I'd really have liked to have seen Drogon come in and lay waste to demonstrate just how threatening dragons were.  I know they wanted Daenerys to fly off on a dragon so that's how they came to that conclusion, but after the display of threat of the WW army the previous week, it would have been cool to have seen the equivalent from the other side.  Instead they made it seem dragons are fairly vulnerable with enough spears.  I would have been much more satisfied with a scorched wasteland of dead, burning bodies than Daenerys flying off on a dragon.

Dragons should never touch the ground unless posing for their destructive handiwork.

This is one of the more bizarre choices they made this year. It's pretty frustrating.

I've also wondered why the unsullied seem to be basic non-entities. This does seem like a bad translation.

It's just a convenience for the show. They did claim these soldiers are awesome, so they have it right... it just take more extras and a busy screen to have the unsullied be awesome and still die, so they cut corners with how the one on one fights play out. It works, it's just confusing to people.

Anyone would may her face for that throne. Marriages are about alliances. Lust is satisfied elsewhere in that culture. That can't have been a serious question.

But it isn't just a scar. It's grayscale. Would anyone marry her if there was a concern she might still spread the disease to anyone around her? She was pretty much living in isolation all her life even after they "cured" her.

You can marry her and keep her in isolation.

Also, it's interesting to compare Tyrion's words last week with Stannis' decision this week. Tyrion wisely advised Dany that no one would follow/love a queen who killed her most devoted followers, so she spared Jorah (good call). But you look at the faces of Stannis' troops as Shireen burns and they have no love for the guy. They might be scared shitless of him after he sacrificed his own daughter, but they would probably would abandon him at this point if they didn't think he would kill them (like the guards at the beginning).

The street police part isn't really at issue. That's a tactical issue. The Unsullied getting gutted so easily in combat is the issue. It's a prowess thing. It should take 10 untrained noblemen with daggers to best a spear wielding epic warrior. Again, though... that takes a lot of extras.
