Starkiller
He has already made plenty of controversial pardons (J6 insurrectionists, cryptoscammers, corrupt politicians, etc), but I feel like this deserves its own thread as it’s obviously going to be an ongoing issue. Starkiller
https://apnews.com/article/trump-pardon-michele-fiore-nevada-fraud-cf56ef8b302b8111e47cf52d5a606d19 President Donald Trump has pardoned a Nevada Republican politician who was awaiting sentencing on federal charges that she used money meant for a statue honoring a slain police officer for personal costs, including plastic surgery. Michele Fiore, a former Las Vegas city councilwoman and state lawmaker who ran unsuccessfully in 2022 for state treasurer, was found guilty in October of six counts of federal wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. She was out of custody ahead of her sentencing, which had been scheduled for next month. Fiore, who does not have a law degree, was appointed as a judge in deep-red Nye County in 2022 shortly after she lost her campaign for state treasurer. In her statement Thursday, Fiore also said she plans to return to the bench next week. nine
I’m personally opposed to any President having unilateral power to issue pardons; it should have been done away with a long time ago, IMO, But they’ll continue doing it for as long as they’re afforded the power to do so. Both sides whine and bitch when the other side does it….but neither makes any effort to do anything about it. Either do something about it or STFU. President Donald Trump pardoned Paul Walczak, a Palm Beach Gardenshealth care executive convicted of tax evasion for siphoning more than $10.9 million in payroll taxes from the paychecks of doctors and nurses. Prosecutors said he used the money to finance a lavish lifestyle and luxury goods, including a $2 million yacht. The judge sentenced him to 18 months in prison and gave Walczak 90 days to turn himself in. Only 12 of those days elapsed before Trump signed the private pardon. Walczak is the son of Betsy Fago, a longtime Republican donor who once hosted a fundraiser at her Jupiter mansion where attendees circulated the stolen diary of Joe Biden's daughter, Ashley. Starkiller
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-pardons-virginia-sheriff-convicted-federal-bribery-charges/story?id=122206606 President Donald Trump on Monday granted an unconditional pardon to a Virginia sheriff who had been convicted of federal bribery charges and sentenced to 10 years in federal prison. Scott Jenkins, who had been the sheriff of Culpeper County, Virginia, was set to report to jail on Tuesday. Jenkins was convicted by a jury in December 2024 on charges including one count of conspiracy, four counts of honest services fraud and seven counts of bribery concerning federally funded programs. The Department of Justice had said in a press release in March that he had received over $75,000 in cash payments for "appointing numerous Northern Virginia businessmen as auxiliary deputy sheriffs within his department." Someone I saw on Reddit had a more likely scenario, which is that Trump wants to use MAGAt sheriffs like this guy as his own paramilitary force https://substack.com/inbox/post/163118921?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=2feli9&triedRedirect=true The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 added Section 287(g) to the Immigration and Nationality Act. This section authorizes ICE to give state and local law enforcement officers the authority to carry out certain immigration enforcement duties. Essentially, 287(g) agreements turn state and local police into arms of ICE, and divert the time and attention of local officers towards enforcing federal immigration law. Critically, law enforcement agencies can only participate in a 287(g) if the agreement doesn’t conflict with state or local laws. Since January 20, the Trump administration has aggressively — yet quietly — expanded a controversial program that delegates immigration enforcement powers to state and local law enforcement agencies across the country that are normally prohibited from investigating and arresting non-citizens based on immigration violations. Starkiller
https://www.newsweek.com/trump-pardons-todd-julie-chrisley-usa-reality-show-2077711 The White House announced Tuesday that President Donald Trump intends to issue full pardons to Julie and Todd Chrisley, the reality TV couple best known for their show Chrisley Knows Best, which chronicled their affluent lifestyle and close-knit family dynamic. The pardon comes despite the couple's 2022 federal convictions for orchestrating a scheme to defraud community banks of over $30 million through fraudulent loans, as well as charges of tax evasion for concealing income while flaunting a life of luxury that included high-end real estate, designer goods and lavish travel.
