Is scanning a real risk?  If so, what should I get if I want a snicker thick one?

Bought on Amazon. Just searched RFID wallets and then tested it when I got it.

And, yeah, given that it happened to me accidentally with a machine ... it opened my eyes to how easy it would be for someone to do. I have no idea if it happens often but I know that it would be easy and so I've taken steps.

Been using Andar wallets for about 10 years now. They have a pretty wide variety of minimalist styles that they offer and they use really nice leathers and other materials

I have a brand similar to Ridge. I love it and would never go back. Also don’t think I would ever be able to use one that attaches to my phone just because I don’t like the idea of my cards going in and out of my pocket as often as my phone.

its enough to hold about 7 cards which is all I ever need at any given point including insurance and ID cards

I don’t ever carry cash on me so have no reason to add bulk for that.

I specifically got one that has an AirTag holder

RFID blocker vs AirTag is interesting.

I too go the AirTag route.  With my adhd I’ve lost so many wallets over the years.  It’s so frustrating.

I have been intrigued by Ridge (which would be a blocker) and others for a while now, but I use a simple, minimalist wallet. I don't think a traditional wallet would be that great at blocking a skimmer anyways, so you have to buy one as you've done or just by some simple card sleeves or something (I like that option too because it minimizes damage on my cards).

Personally, I use and enjoy this Herschel one: https://a.co/d/cOoBHb7

It is so nice not having a bunch of clutter in your wallet and not sitting on a massive thick slab. I like being able to slide it into my front pocket too if I am going to be a something big like a concert or festival and want to be extra careful about pickpockets.

I've used that same wallet for a couple years.

Every wallet I've had for at least 20 years has been a fabric minimalist. I got my cc's stolen at an airport somehow, since then they have all been rfid blocking as well.

Nah. I was showing my son one of the plastic mold thingys for different animals at the zoo a few years ago and t leaned over the machine to point at something and the damn thing scanned my credit card in my wallet in my pocket. After "buying" that figurine, I bought a wallet that blocks cards being scanned.

Also, no way in hell am I ever limiting myself to few enough things to make use of a minimalist wallet. Would I like to? Sure. But that's far from realistic. My wallet is thicker than a snicker and there's just no use in pretending I don't need all that shit.

Is this you, @Jamalisms?  LOL

I used a money clip with a pocket for awhile. I've been with Ridge for last year or so. At first I didn't like it. I thought it was going to scuff up my cards and DL by sliding them out. It doesn't. Works well. Easy to keep all my stuff and a small amount of cash in the money portion.
