If the age gap and prime years werent so far off the trade wouldnt be so lopsided.

The Mavs are obviously predicting more issues with his work ethic and health through his prime years. You would just think they would call a few more teams to get the best offer possible. To me that is the biggest blunder.

Here's the logic behind not shopping him--first, it shifts the leverage to Luka's camp. Given what was going on with Butler and what has gone on with other stars, and Nico's clear issue with Luka's level of power and influence, that was something they were trying to avoid.

This is also a team that was in the Finals last season, so I think Nico went star chasing thinking Luka was plug and play--clearly that is bullshit, but here we are. I do believe he called about Giannis and Ant and got shot down.

If Nico is also dead set on trading him, openly shopping Luka also meant doing it out in the open. Fan backlash, Cuban getting involved, all of that risks blowing up the trade and the owners choosing Luka over Nico. We saw how ugly it got---I think shopping here is not quite as easy as it seems.

Do you follow the NBA? Doncic is a top 5 player at 25. The market for him would have been insane. Teams spend years in hell dreaming of being able to flip assets for a guy like that.

Lots of talk among Mavs fans that this is the first step of the new owners wanting to move the team to Vegas. They didn’t want to pay the super max contract that Luka was due to sign, and trading the

I just don't see what is in it for the Mavs, this feels like a deal a Laker homer would get laughed at suggesting.

Awesome. I am going to start a thread sometime soon and recruit people to follow the Grizzlies. I think it's a team Titans fans can get behind. Super young, with a lot of talent. For fans that are used to horrible drafting and later round picks never hitting, the Grizzlies are gold--they've drafted really well the past couple of years. It's a great time to jump on. I know the NBA product is polarizing, but eh--you might as well have a team.

You're right. I think it's ok to like a couple teams in the NBA

Looks like the trade didn’t help either team win a playoff series 🤣

The Lakers didn't have the juice this season but the series was closer than it looked on paper. This was obviously a future move and this season was not a consideration in making this trade at allbut I think things would have been really different had they facilitated the Mark Williams trade, as they got killed inside and ran out of gas. Still not good enough to get beyond OKC.

Luka is all about the future. Jettisoning and aging and injured AD for Luka was incredible. When LeBron comes off the books they will have the flexibility to build the exact team around Luka that he wants.

It's all fun and games until someone like Ant or SGA decides to team up with Luka in their primes and shit on the league.

The GM may have been right on the Luka is a fatass who won’t age gracefully take  and is a horrible defender.

But that still doesn’t absolve him from getting an awful and shitty return.
