NFL Week 3 Titans vs Browns Discussion

Always nice to enter a new week on the back of a win especially so after an 8 game losing streak.

Also good to enter a week knowing you have a bit of a rest and health advantage over your opponent.

Browns first two weeks have be a tale of clunky offense combined with an elite defense (#2 total defense, only conceded 15 total points as two Steelers TD were defensive scores, they also kept the Steelers out of the redzone with them running zero redzone offensive snaps yesterday).

There is no doubt the loss of Chubb is a massive blow for a team that wants to run the ball behind a massive OL constructed to pound the ball.

Looking at the Titans Vrabel was optimistic on Monday that Fulton and Hooker will return this week he seemed more uncertain the timeframe for Skoronski.

Not sure the Titans are going to have a lot of success offensively if they try to slam Henry repeatedly against that Browns defense so Kelly needs to get that play action passing game cranked up again, also think he might have some success with Spears and Henry in the passing game as the Browns lost Steelers RB Jaylen Warren a couple of times in coverage yesterday.

Finally I expect this defense to force Watson into some mistakes and it will be important to capitalize on them when they occur.

That was definitely a MASH game for the Browns last night.  They need to mush rush Watson and make him beat them from the pocket.  There was that one sack he took that was Mariota/Locker esque.  Autry should be able to win vs Dawand Jones.

I expect a low scoring affair, with both defenses being stout.

The issue was never the Henry/Spears ratio. It was the run/pass ratio and all the stupid empty formations on first down. Spears is the more versatile back and the offense is less predictable when he's in the game. When Henry's the lone back the playbook gets a lot smaller.

The Browns will absolutely stone wall Henry if the Titans try and run him

Gotta be Spears.

That Tic Tak Titans guy is a huge Henry homer and he said today Spears should get more carries than Henry

If you look through all Spears touches against the Chargers his 3 best runs two were when Tannehill was under centre and the other a toss play from shotgun, most of his ineffective plays came from straight shotgun handoffs.

When combined with Henry usually running better when Tannehill is under centre maybe Kelly needs to inch away from shotgun a little bit.

The more I see of Spears the more there is to like.  In addition to the swivel and quickness he is also running with vision. With the short life of the rb, he is basically in his prime already. He needs more carries.

Not surprising after the NO game. As much as our WR core has improved from last season, we still don't have any great separators until Phillips returns. Burks has the potential to be but he's not a polished route runner yet due to his lackluster start/stop speed which is generally more important in route running than long speed.

Yeah he really settled in as the game went in. I was too premature in burrying him during the game.

I meant to ask you about him since we got him. I always like your opinion on corners. He was brutal in week ONE but I’m gonna be pissed if he doesn’t make the PFF team this week. He was big time.

Anyway, looking at this kids measurables I don’t know how he isn’t a superstar. Length & speed out the kazoo, 41.5 vert. He’s got it all. Maybe he’s a bit lanky & has gotten out bullied by some of these tanks at WR now? But getting him for $5 mil was a steal.
