Being used sparingly doesn’t help that. Belichick will make him look like an all pro

Hahah yeah. He's a victim. Titans were blind to not use this hidden weapon.

Or they saw him every day in practice. he's not who you think he is and they didn't use him more for a reason.

I think it's just more of a case of the Titans being a low volume passing offense. You could also make the same argument A.J. Brown should get way more targets

He's at his best receiving. He's dogshit as a tight end. You can say he "improved" blah blah blah. Not enough. He's still a liability as a blocker.

LOL

This is a fucking ridiculously stupid take.

Sure.... or he's a good athlete and makes flashy plays that fans remember but on a play to play basis, he just doesn't run great routes or have consistent hands or blocking which are really more important for a TE. So the Titans used less athletic but more consistent players and then chose to let him walk in FA.

How? Jonnu is best when he's got space and can get YAC yards. He's absolutely poor to mediocre as a blocking TE. He's solid as a blocker in space but not really on the edge.

But...he also runs dumbass routes. So, I don't know what to tell you. He would be better served lining up as a receiver. It took him two years to learn how to fucking chip.

Jonnu got lucky. This offense would've held him back his entire career; it just doesn't feature the TE well at all. Now he's with a coach that we've seen consistently deploy tight ends in a deadly fashion. As long as it's not against us, I'm actually very excited to see what Jonnu can do in NE. I've told all my boys up here that they're going to absolutely love what he brings to the Pats.

Jonnu was considered one of the better blockers in the league and he is a better pass catcher than given credit for.  Clearly, based on the market for him in FA, he was seen as a top 10 TE by at least some teams.

Yep.

Would’ve been indispensable in our McNair-era offense.

but not in our current one.

We are run based, play-action….long developing routes run well.

not Jonnu’s strength.

Pats will use him well.

not a big loss for us..:big gain for them.

You’re confused about his skillset I think.

He would be a terrible receiver, he’s not savvy enough of a route runner. He’s a total mismatch on LBers and is a good inline blocker. His biggest asset as a receiver is YAC.

Yeah, he’d be terrible in the slot.
