I'd give an edge to Tannehill in terms of accuracy but in his prime McNair was a great passer as well. I'd also give McNair a huge edge in terms of pocket presence and strength(he was near impossible to bring down). 

 

And even though Tannehill leads the league in comebacks since he took over as the Titans starter with the game on the line you are taking Steve McNair in a game winning drive situation and it's not even close.

This desire to overlook or minimize McNair by some posters is just bizarre.

After todays waxing of the Lions, there really isn't any comparison. I guess you could say Moon & McNair were better football players, but Tannehill is 100% the best QB this franchise has ever seen. 

 

I hate to say it because it detracts from the argument, but this may be the best offense the franchise has ever seen. AJB, Davis, DH. Then you have all the other guys who are great as well--who might be pro bowlers on different teams. 

 

If the defense gets it's act together EVEN JUST A LITTLE BIT, we're contenders. All mainly because of RT's play.

McNair is on leaderboards for Yards, completions, tds, and QBR in 97, and then 01-03. So 4 years. He only made leaderboards in attempts 2x 97, and 02? I think. McNair was never close to leading the league in Ints any year. 

 

To put the pre Ty Law Rule era into perspective. There would usually be 1 QB that would hit 4k yards or 30+ tds or 100 QBR. Nobody was ever hitting 5k or 40. You could pass for <20 tds, <3k yards, and <90 QBR and still make the top 10 leaderboards. 

 

Min stats to make 1997 (McNair 1st season as starter) leaderboard - 3254 yards, 19tds, 83.8 QBR

Min stats to make 2019 leaderboard -  4031 yards, 26 tds or 99.7 QBR

era difference 777 yards, 7 tds, 15.9QBR

It said the Dow he was capabood QB, they wanthins  would play in the playoffs  several seasons later.  Then Tannehill under instrucuas-Orangeame, assuring Dolpat play-off games. I don't know what your definition of a game manager is but most would not include his leadership and the number of 4th quarter comebacks and near comebacks.  Unless you think those are part of the script and he's just driving the bus then also.

Throw the ball 15 to 25 times a game to keep defenses honest and not overly stack the box to stop the run.

Tanny hasn't been with us long enough . I'm hype at the way he's been playing I will say he's the best we've had in a while and I hope he continues to do his thing and not only get us to the Super Bowl but win it as well!! He's definitely on the right path!!! GO TITANS!!!
