Why not hire him as Defensive coordinator. I fear Vrabel is becoming a control freak. I hope he doesn't turn into Jeff Fisher Lol.

My thoughts exactly.  This has Whisenhunt written all over it. He needs to focus on having this team ready and let specialists do their jobs.

I don't have a problem with Vrabel being involved in the gameplan defensively, but beyond that he should just let Haslett run it.

By all accounts, Vrabel was already heavily involved in game planning and we already know he's a hands on HC.  This idea that it's a catastrophe is comical.  We don't even know if Vrabel will be calling the plays......

The important thing is that the scheme isn't changing and that's a good thing.

One thing that always impressed me about Belichick is his hands-on, in-game coaching of individual players and player groups. I’ve seen Vrabel do that. If he’s calling plays it might make that a little harder.

I’m sure Robinson signed off on whatever Vrabel has planned at DC this year. Trust in Robinson...

In fairness...Whisenhunt’s downfall wasn’t because he was calling plays as the HC; it was because his game plans were unbelievably myopic and short-sighted.

The most glaring example was when he  repeatedly put a rookie OG-turned-RT (Poutasi) in one-on-one matchups against  JJ-freaking-Watt all day long.  Anyone else would have seen that disaster coming a mile away..,,but Whisenhunt thought he could make it work.

We’ll never see a situation where  Vrabel would repeatedly put a rookie LB in man coverage against a Julio Jones or Tyreek Hill;  it’s an absolutely ridiculous thought.   But Ken Whisenhunt wouldn’t have seen a problem with it.

Haslett has been a bad DC for a long time. Don’t want him calling anything,

Good point.  Experience doesn't always translate to quality.

Like the engineer who gets a good new job because he has experience designing crappy stuff.

Yep. He’s well respected as a teacher and well connected but this isht the late nineties when he had success as a DC.

Calling plays for the defense is never going to be anything like the responsibility of calling plays on offense for a HC.

My point on Whisenhunt was just the fact that he had his nose in too much, and he was stubborn about it. He was a complete failure.

Pees was a terrible old man who lost touch with football a long time ago. I am glad to see him leave. When teams get 9 yards on first down time and time again its time to quit which is what he did.  If any team has one fast receiver his entire defensive scheme doesn't work. Rush 3 lose game should be on his license plate for life.
