Righteous
Vrabel is the Baker Mayfield of coaches. All the swag and no accomplishments to back it up. He is currently a .500 coach and his only claim to fame is he played for OSU and New England. He has accomplished nothing as a coach and appears over his head. STFU and answer the questions! Titans279
If they start Mariota I think it's all on AAS. That's the only real explanation at this point for not starting Tannehill. The thing I would expect is that they'll start Tannehill. If they were going back to Mariota Vrabel could have said that either time he's spoken since the game. He's leaving it an open decision at this point which you wouldn't do if Mariota was still the guy. The only exception is that once they all (him, JRob, AAS) meet today like he said they would to make the decision that they can't convince AAS that they just need to move on from MM and roll with RT. He said he doesn't want to flip back and forth. He doesn't want a roller coaster. That means you rolling with RT for the foreseeable future, or you give up benching MM for the foreseeable future (which makes no sense since he just benched him...) Mercalius
Vrabel was a questionable hire resume-wise that was adored by pundits and “football people.” Most here scratched their heads a bit wondering why but justified it as J-Rob getting his guy. A year and a half in and it appears his lack of credentials is showing and the snarky non-answers has already worn out its welcome. I don’t foresee him being fired this season unless we completely bottom out, but I guarantee conversations are already happening behind closed doors and Robinson won’t sink with the Vrabel ship if that outcome looks inevitable
BudsOilers
Stillman said Mariota was a Pro Bowler? When? I know he was named an alternate one year.
Stan
I’d trade Mariota right now and try and get value for him if he walks away after this year. Idc if it’s a 5th-6th rounder there’s teams out there who will want him.

The thing I think they should be criticized for is giving him the 5th year option in the first place. Then for not having an open competition. Do I think it will be good enough? Doubtful. It would have taken simply a slightly better offense to win a couple more games. A slightly better offense could easily get us to 4-4 with next 2 games at home. If we can get the next two then I'd like to take a look around the AFC and see where we are. Whole lotta inconsistency in the AFC

I can give some slack on the 5th year option given the timing of when they exercised it (and then he ended the season injured). Not having an open competition, though, is a complete failure on the team's part.

Vrabel is in a tough spot. When he came here Mariota was the starter. The team won a playoff game. The way he deals with the QB is important. Maybe too long, but he really stood in for Mariota. He's also supported Adoree and other players. They played hard for him last year and the evidence suggests the same this year. When he faces the media, he's supposed to have their backs. Mariota just made him have to eat his words.
BudsOilers
I will say this. There is a level of delusion by the local media on Mariota. JFC - his 2017 season played a huge part in Robinson being able to force Mariota out. MM had more interceptions than TD's and played awful for most of the season. VY made a couple of Pro Bowls so let's not act like Vrabel took over some great QB who then fell apart. If anything, LaFleur deserves a medal for putting together a functional offense with MM and even that was dumbed down because he couldn't execute more than the basics.
