Now, here we are.  It's painful to say you are sick of MM.  It was tough for me in August.  But the sooner you say it, the better.  I used to apologize before every post to explain how much I like him as a human being.  It became obvious to me he was ruining the team.  I felt the Titans would win eleven games with this talent.  We are 5-5.  Better, consistent QB play would put us at 7-3.  QBs are supposed to win games.

The Titans have one of the best scoring defenses in the league.  A QBs dream.  Henry sucks!  Lewis isn't really that good!  Davis isn't #5 talent!  Mariota can't throw the ball well enough to beat a stacked box.  That's the problem.  Why do we keep running around chasing any answer except the right one?  AND HE'S INJURY PRONE.

You gotta give up on him now.  The organization needs to know the fans have given up on him.  Or, since we make excuse after excuse for him, they will be afraid to do what they need to do to solve the problem.  They should see all the empties and figure it out.  Everybody loves him, but they won't pay to watch him limp off the field.  They won't pony up to see him balance each TD pass with a pick.

Would the Steelers put up with this?  Honest question.  What about Steeler fan?  You think he would have a ton of excuses and have to drag it out forever?  They cheer for the uniform.

Even if you’re right, which I still have reservations about, there is no easy way out. Were not going to have a high enough pick this year to get one of the top guys and it’s already a weak class apparently. No great FA options. And even if we did get a guy in the 2nd or 3rd, an inconsistent mariota (who we’ve already agreed to pay) is probably a better chance at the playoffs.

The only doubt I have about Mariota is his injury issues. There's not 10 QBs I'd rather have than him from just a talent perspective. He's good when healthy. The problems this year have been do to his injury and not being able to grow and develop in this new offense because of it and having to carry a huge burden of the offense without much help. But no doubt an average durable starting QB, even if he's lesser than Mariota, would have our offense playing better due to not constantly getting interrupted due to injuries.

I'm to the point now with this QB bullshit that I hope we use every goddamn draft pick in every goddamn round every goddamn year on a QB until we finally find an elite guy/girl/tranny/transitioning/furry/etc...----that's how important this one position is in this sport. Go out and get elite coordinators and fill all your other needs in free agency....

I think you just have to go through next year under the 5th year option and evaluate.

Haha! I know that you're hoping for another year...

Quit thinking Mariota is the answer.  Then you do the best you can to get better.  Even he is Mariota healthy every game, he's too inconsistent to win big. And it's a fact, he's injury prone.  The only people who won't admit it are Titans fans.  The football world already knows it.  Mariota in his 4th season can't stand in the pocket and go through his read progressions in seconds.  His pocket presence is run out when trouble comes and don't look to buy time to make a big throw.

Luck was out two years.  The Colts waited.  Look what we get when we waited all last year as he threw 15TD-13INT.  We got 7TD-6INT in 8 games this year.  You think Packer fan would be saying there's nobody else out there?  Do you actually believe nobody could play that good?  The uniform, not the player.

What talent?  That's what you have to get past, selective Mariota Memory.

HE'S INJURY PRONE     make that your screen saver.

Mariota will be fine, we will win out the rest of the season, and then look back at now with laughter.

I have to get on the road.  I'll be back and blow the hell up in a few hours.

Completely agree, although I would add they have to sign a respectable backup. I'd go all out for Bridgewater.

Bridgewater is going to be the best QB on the market.  It's likely that multiple teams will chase him and he will get a very nice multiple year contract. Some team is likely to pay him as a low to middle grade starter.   If the Titans were able to sign him, then they would have a very expensive backup (either MM or Bridgewater) sitting on the bench and a lot of cash tied up in the position with the position unresolved and subject to a huge controversy.

To some extent I agree.  But JRob knows the difference in blocking schemes.  He knew Conklin would be late getting back into form.

He went after Conk specifically for his familiarity with the power scheme.  He had to know converting to a ZBS was risky, as lots of O-Linemen NEVER make the transition between the two.

Levitre is a great example, he couldn't transition to the power scheme, and a year after trading him he's lauded as very reliable on the ATL Superbowl squad.  Same story with Warmack.

Conklin came from a zone blocking scheme at Mich st.

What? All I have said since the game is I have no idea what yo think of this team and that the oline was buit for a different scheme... I didnt say that they all suck or that we need to fire everyone.

Edit: I also said as big a supporter of Mariota as I have been the injuries have pushed me to the edge.

I wasn’t singlaling you out.

So was Mariota medically cleared to go back in? If he was and Vrabel held him out he needs to be taken to task over it.

That's unclear.  Mariota supposedly said he was OK but he said that in Miami too.  Bottom line is that down that big, the defense was going to tee off on the QB so why risk further injury to Mariota.  Regardless of where MM is at production wise, the best chance for the Titans to make a playoff run is with him on the field.

Its giving up down 21 points which can be made up. If it were the 4th quarter fine. Now next weeks game is do or die.

No, he didn't.

Dantonio ran a power scheme, and JRob commented specifically that Conk was his pick in part because of the fact that he came from a power scheme.

He was an All-Pro in a Man-Power scheme, there is no way he's have regressed this far, even with the injury if he was well-versed in Zone from his college days.

MSU switched from the Power Scheme to a ZBS this season:

Michigan State football stock watch: Offensive line thrives with changes

Quote

Offensive line

Five guys – LT Cole Chewins, LG Tyler Higby, C Matt Allen, RG Blake Bueter and RT Jordan Reid – basically played the entire game, which has been a rarity. The Spartans have rotated players and positions along the line the past five years to increase productivity, but injuries forced a change that helped Saturday. MSU simplified its blocking scheme, shifting from power-run to zone blocking in an attempt to generate more cutback room in the middle of the field. It worked somewhat, as MSU totaled 123 yards but also found a few more creases between the tackles than it has all season. True freshman La’Darius Jefferson benefitted the most, running through holes to average 4.0 yards per carry. His 27-yard run in the fourth quarter was the longest by an MSU running back this season.
