Time for Rusty Smith 2.0! Actually, since JRob is doing the drafting now I am hoping for more of a Cousins like mid-round QB...
OILERMAN
Gabbert is as good as anyone out there and has shown bright spots for stretches

His biggest knock is happy feet under real or perceived pressure. And as we don't have the worst line the the league, it might settle those down a touch. StephenIsLegend
I recall Gabbert playing pretty well at times last year. I’d be okay with it.
MIKE75
After watching Gabbert play Tennessee and Jacksonville last season and win both games i think it is a no brainer as far as bringing him in. Would also be cool if he was our backup QB long term. This is the perfect opportunity to lock up a long term backup with potential hell the guy was a former first rounder. MIKE75
Last time a free agent QB came here JRob let the guy leave and he went and signed with another team. Henne I really hope we dont let this one slip away.
EagleEye
But can Gabbert make no look passes like Brady?
pat
Would love to give Gabbert an opportunity to embarrass the jags
imemtitan
Gabbert might have been the biggest transition I have seen from the QB position, I mean he is a passable backup at this point, but he was so horrendously bad his first couple years in Jacksonville that I really expected him to be out of the league. His time in San Fran as a backup seemed to give him some confidence and he looks much better now than I ever expected. Would be a solid pickup at the backup position, and they could trade Mularkey stories about how he almost ruined both their careers.

titanruss
Best option from what’s available skill set, age, experience, and money wise. Wont be a guy trying to be a starter somewhere like bridgewater either
MIKE75
Like any QB i think Gabbert struggled early on like many young QB's do. However many NFL QB's once they get experience under the belt some become capable of leading a team or some are content to be a backup. 2015---Gabbert and the 49ers were down 20–13 to the Chicago Bears late in the fourth quarter on December 6, 2015, Gabbert rushed for a 44-yard touchdown. He then threw a 71-yard game-winning touchdown to Torrey Smith in overtime for a 26–20 49ers victory. Gabbert finished the 2015 season with 2,031 passing yards with 10 touchdowns and 7 interceptions for an 86.2 passer rating 2016---In the 2016 opening Week One Gabbert completed 22 of 35 passes.63 percent,170 yards and 1TD and 0INT as he led the 49ers to a shutout of the Rams 28-0. In Week 4 Gabbert completed 16 of 23 passes.70 percent,200 yards and 1TD and 1INT in a close loss 23-16 at Dallas...... 2017--In 2017 against Tennessee Gabbert completed 17 of 26 passes.65 percent,180 yards and 0TD and 0INT as he won the game by a score of 12-7. In a 27-24 close win vs Jaguars he completed 22 of 38 passes.58 percent,240 yards and 2TD and 1INT The above is a sample of the last three seasons. All the numbers are really good for a backup. In one game he ran 44 yards then threw a 71 yard pass.....JRob my man WTF are you waiting on???? Gabbert's 44 yard TD run at start of video.... At 3:06 Gabbert throws a 71 yard pass
MIKE75
I'm telling you guys we are gonna miss out on a good backup if we don't sign Gabbert. Gabbert does a lot of the same stuff that Mariota does he is perfect for this offense and team. If Mariota gets dinged up Gabbert would handle playing with no issues at all. MIKE75
If Jrob were to sign Gabbert and Suh that would be the best free agency ever by far.......
