Frank Wycheck Believes He Has CTE

Sad. I think many feared this after the strange events during the season.

Former Titans tight end Frank Wycheck, who threw the lateral on the Music City Miracle, said in a television interview on Fox-WZTV in Nashville that he's certain he has CTE.

That was obvious when he did the chat with us!

I was just thinking that. He is probably still trying to type out his responses...

When was this?

Years ago on the old TitansCentral site. They used to do chats from people around the team. JTB and Oilerman would get Beddingfield before the draft and got John McClain one or twice. Maybe someone from the Tennessean.

We've had quite a few do the podcast including Wyatt, McClain, Hutton, and Kuharsky. Would be really cool do go back and ask for Q and A sessions. I think it would likely need to be a moderated one where we could filter out duplicate questions and keep the chatter down to where their answers weren't lost.

It definitely seems like a difficult and unfortunate situation for Wycheck;  he doesn't allude to it too often on the radio...but when he does, there's something in his voice that gives the distinct impression that it's a lot worse than he's letting on and that maintaining a so-called "normal" day-to-day life can really be a struggle at times.

I try not to do much finger-pointing with it;   I have no doubt that the league has covered up a ton of stuff in an effort to keep their money train rolling… But the fact is, the players all knew it was a tremendously violent game when they signed up for it, and that sooner or later it would take a terrible and lifelong toll on their bodies and minds.

It's just a really sad and unfortunate situation all around.

Unless, of course, you're an NFL owner or Roger Goodell, in which case it's someone else's problem entirely, and you're just trying to keep it from hitting your checkbook.

Definitely easier to do on a podcast than a chat. You could probably just ask for questions ahead of time or have people in chat asking questions that you moderate during a live recording.

Minds? I mean I know they all sign up for the damage to their bodies, but the notion of CTE seems pretty new. I mean the NFL denied it for years. Certainly, during Wycheck's day, it wasn't generally known. I agree that players TODAY know the risks, though.
