ManningEnvy
Successful lawyers who aren't a dime a dozen don't have time for shit like this. Justafan
I said no but only because this will die down. Emotions are high right now but except for a few, the rest of us will calm down here soon.

wiscotitansfan
I actually want to change my vote to no. There is no way that when an "off-topic" post turns political (which most will) that it should be movedInsert other media
Starkiller
There is no reason for a separate sub-forum about politics. The Off Topic forum is designed specifically to host topics like politics. I won't comment about the quality of political posts being made because I have vowed not to post about politics for a year, but if people are not happy with them then simply moving them to a different sub-forum isn't solving anything. Either moderate or don't.

Either moderate or don't. Not really, there are hundreds of topics that people would gladly talk about (whether or not those threads actually get made is a completely different story) but due to most people posting a single thread about every single political instance they agree/disagree with makes this sub-forum so toxic that majority of the board stays away from it. It makes perfect sense to have a sub-forum specifically for politics but that would require extra moderation since plenty of people would complain about "getting that out of here" when half the posters in the OT forum would bring up shitty politics anyway. Too many topics tangentially or directly cross over into the realm of politics to separate them. And we have a long history of originally non-political threads shifting into politics. That's why I agree, just stating how the toxicity of politics has always limited the population of the OT forum ...Unless people actually come to this site only specifically for Titans news, WTF
pat
We should have a ban on large blocks of copied and pasted content. And informally mock folks who post third party content instead of writing up their own arguments.
NashvilleNinja
Some if you are making this more complicated than it needs to be. Either that or you're so lazy you can't be bothered to add one more sub-forum to your life. There are more than enough off-topics of discussion to justify moving talk of politics and/or religion to their own forum. Football has their own sub-forums. Fantasy football, the draft, other sports even have their own sub-forums. And none of those sub-forums have any issue with periods of waning discussion. When there is something to discuss then talk picks up. There is nothing wrong with putting politics and religion in their place. And those who are worried that it would require so much more moderation must be new to this site. The only real work would be migrating current political and religious threads to the new sub-forum but mods haven't had issue moving other threads in the past, so... I am all for having a separate sub-forum for those topics.

Hard for me to see how a thread about work out tips, grilling tips, the latest Star Wars movie, or a gif thread should turn into a political thread... but this forum has also has a long history of being able to self-moderate. OzTitan
People are lazy. Adding sub forums has a point of diminishing or even negative returns. I think TR has the sub forum balance right. I come to off topic not knowing what topic I'm going to read or comment on. Right now it's US politics heavy on both accounts but that's for obvious reasons.

People are lazy because they don't want to bother having to compartmentalize, but maybe that's something people should start doing when it comes to politics.
