But some players can drastically improve a team if they play to their strengths rather than how a coach wants a generic player to perform. Everything else is secondary. The same applies for all legit NFL qbs. Gruden was hired to make Griffin a real QB using his system. The failure is Griffin's not Gruden's. You're taking offense too easily. Besides, simply saying "this isn't college" leaves a lot open to interpretation. If you're referring to the higher level of athleticism, this still leaves the examples of elite beasts like Moss, L. Taylor, B. Sanders, D. Sanders, etc that affected how their own coaches smartly altered their style of play to take advantage of their unique skills. If you're referring to different systems, that also leaves the many examples of innovation that takes place at the lower levels that creeps into the pros. The shannys incorporating the Baylor offense along with relying too much on the zone read in rg3's rookie year were colossal mistakes. I understand Gruden is in a bad spot but he needs to get a handle on the position. The guy changes his mind every week, it's ridiculous. I'm starting to think he's in over his head. This is where Fisher was under appreciated here. He showed leadership & decisiveness in '08, in contrast to the handful of teams every year who completely botch the position. He was done with rg3 last year but Snyder stepped in. This offseason Gruden wanted an open competition but then had to turn around and name Griffin the starter in February. I think Griffin's comments about being the best QB in the NFL coupled with his other statement "I just work here" earlier this week finally showed the organization he can't handle the spotlight. It's also rumored that he lied about his concussion symptoms. My opinion is that McClellan is done with him and is trying to convince Snyder it's time to move on. The results in year 1 were the best the franchise experienced since 2005 (same record)... and only surpassed in '91 when they won the SB. I don't keep up with that team, so I don't know whatever shit storm is swirling around that place, but something was going right at least for a season. He threw some bad picks last year but I think it's because RG3 was coming back & he was pressing. RG3 is done in Washington. I seem to recall Gruden taking a lot of flack from the skin's faithful for having Griffin run around, once he got hurt. They were fine when RG was putting up video game numbers, and then got nasty when they had to watch his knee fold on TV.
