Is Tiger Wods finished?

Recommended Posts

I think he might commit suicide.

I doubt he will, but his career is basically over. He's on the brink of missing the cut again at the British Open, that makes two majors in a row.

Tiger was a lot more than just power.  In his prime, he had an amazing prowess with pitch and chip shots, maybe only rivaled by Phil Mickelson,  Also, he is possibly the greatest clutch putter to ever live.  Whenever he had to have a putt, he always got it.  Instances of clutch putts that come to mind are the eight footer to save par on 17 to fend off Sergio in 1999 PGA, the 6 footer to force a playoff with Bob May in the 2000 PGA, and the 20 footer to force a playoff with Rocco Mediate in the 2008 US Open.

Thank you! Tiger Woods had the greatest short game in the history of golf in his prime, and that's widely recognized in the world of golf with just about any analyst and player out there. There may have been better players in certain aspects, like Faxon and Stricker as a putter or Phil with pitches and chip shots, but as a whole, nobody was more refined around the greens than TW.

He didn't make the cut for the U.S. Open and shot an 80 his first round.

3 majors, 3 missed cuts now. He's just embarrassing himself, retirement is his only option at this point.

Never really liked Tiger Woods much. I think it was his squeaky clean image that rubbed me the wrong way.

One of my favorite commercials though

That was almost 3 years ago. Back then people still thought he had a shot at Jack's record of 18 majors. Ain't gonna happen, no way.

Greatest of all time. Period.

Wayne Gretzky is the greatest of all time. Michael Jordan is the greatest of all time. Tiger is not a GOAT like those two are.

It's only one major in the last 11 years. Let's see if he can win three more before the end of his career just to tie The Golden Bear.

He doesn't need to beat Jack or even tie Jack. That's no longer the measuring stick for greatness in golf, unless you're 65 and have an outdated way of thinking.

Look at all the other numbers. Look at the fact that he couldn't hardly even walk 2 years ago, let alone swing a club. He completely rebuilt his game from the ground up and has come back to win the most difficult tournament in the world against some of the most talented and powerful players we've ever seen in less than 2 years time...at 43 years old. And he's almost back into the top 5 into the world rankings. He also legitimately could have won 2 majors last year! You're completely hating if you think he's anything less than the greatest at this point. The guy has nothing left to prove.

To be honest as great as Jack was he didn't have the competition week in and week out these guys face.  It is hard for any golfer to win a major let alone multiple majors in the same year.  I had to look it up to remember Patrick Reed won the Masters last year.

Plus if Tiger didn’t have his back and knee injuries he easily passes Nicklaus.
