Face
I think it's the second most likely possible scenario that could occur with the no. 2 overall pick, first being the Titans drafting Mariota. At this point, drafting Williams is like 4 or 5 on that list imo. Unfortunately. I wouldn't go that far, Williams being the 4th or 5th option I mean. But it does seem like everything's changed. I think a dark horse shocker could be a WR. Very dark horse.

I meant the 3rd and 4th options being trading the pick to another team who would take Mariota, not the Titans drafting a player other than Mariota or Williams. big2033
I still don't see why the Chargers would trade up for Mariota. I see why the Titans would do it to get Rivers. You'd have to have him rated pretty high to drop your star vet and draft picks. It's a lot to give up when there's a chance to resign Rivers. I think if we do trade it'll be someone else. The Rivers trade seems like nothing more then a media concoction to me.

It's all based on the fact the Rivers won't sign a new contract and the Chargers are having Mariota for a visit on April 15th... I say we'll find out any truth to the rumor on April 16th. He doesn't want to live in LA and they need a name to sell to the fans when they move there. It's less of a football move and more of a business move for the Chargers. Without Rivers, they really don't have a name to sell to the casual fans there.
socaltitan
LA is only about a 2 hour drive from SD. I don't think it has to do with that. He's more frustrated at the stadium situation. He's probably also frustrated playing for a bad organization like the Chargers
abenjami
The Chargers are not going to dump the face of the franchise because of a speculative move to LA that is not even close to happening.

abenjami
I doubt Rivers would waive his no trade clause to get traded to a non Super Bowl contender in a deal that nets his old team a bounty of draft picks. He'd rather just play out the final year of his deal and become a free agent.

OILERMAN
I agree the Rivers trade seems like a pipe dream but for the love of God it's all we have!

Or Browns...Jags...Rams.... Dolphins...Bucs... Bengals... Skins... Raiders... Jets... Bills... Falcons... Lions....

Face
Even though this is definitely in the "pipe dream" category, it seems to keep coming up. And there's connections here...Wiz & Rivers, we have the "Mariota" pick, which is key. I also think Rivers absolutely would sign an extension here, he's a different kind of guy. He's very religious & there's always been talk that he wants to go home to raise his family, and this is awfully close to home. In fact, I wouldn't even go so far as to say it's a pipe dream. QB's this good just don't go into the final year of their deals & refuse to talk about an extension. It's pretty much unprecented. The team is actively trying to move to LA & the face of the franchise basically said he doesn't want to go. It's a pretty big power play.
