luvyablue256
I am impressed by the defense. Coming out of preseason, we were all a little worried, but they held KC to only 224 (or so) total yards. McCourty also showed he has play making ability with 2 big INTs. Ray Horton is the biggest offseason acquistion. It'll be interesting to see how they perform going forward. Locker is not what we want as a long term starter. He's a decent backup, but we won't beat talented teams with his lack of pocket awareness and up-and-down accuracy. Those should be major concerns with anyone who's really a fan of this team, and not just a fan of certain players. His stats are decent, but it's all about the tape. He's gonna end up putting our WR's in a MORGUE. Jurrell Casey is a MONSTER. I don't see that changing anytime soon. We have to move on from Nate. His career trajectory is on a down slope, and is always coming up with phantom pain after plays.
titanicbomb
Exactly... Locker is a solid backup caliber QB. We've seen enough over the last 4 yrs to know he's clearly not a franchise QB. He may well have the worst pocket awareness/presence of all NFL starting QB's right now. OILERMAN
I'd actually give McCoutry credit for all 3 INTs
japan
Pretty impressive opening game. I like the variety of personnel on offense and the packages that we didn't see all preseason. Competent play calling on offense. Amazing how long we have been missing it. Locker looked ok. We can win with him. Hope he gets better with pocket awareness, but that will be tough. Pragidealist
I would credit Avery for two of them
V_Man
not a bad first game for this new coached team... locker had pretty good stats for a career backup.. lol... comeon guys.
THE_TITAN
What is it with all this Locker hate? Thought he did a heck of a job today, we would've put up 35+ easily if it wasn't for penalties by lineman.
Justafan
Pleasantly surprised by the defense. Having said that, I think this game said more about how bad KCs offense is than how good our defense is. Locker played much better than you give him credit for. He made some mistakes but he also made some big plays and kept drives alive and had a pretty good game overall. You can win a lot of games with the way he played tonight. MamlngEnvy
These guys act like Jake fucked they wife mom and grandmoms lol
Titans_Win_Again
Locker definitely has room to improve but right now he's the best qb we've had in awhile. Main thing I take from this game... KC is really bad.
Pragidealist
Career backup talk with 66.7% comp, rating of 111 and 7 for 10 3rd down conversions is silly and not to be taken seriously If jake keeps that up then he is easily extended
code
Absolutely ridiculous post. Jake Locker played at a very high level. Did you listen to Rich Gannon? I suspect he knows a bit more about the position then EVERY poster on this site. Jake was decisive. He completed a high percentage of third down throws. He was accurate in the red zone. He should have had 3 TDs but for the officials choosing to allow McCluster to be held behind the LOS. He scrambled effectively and he got down to protect himself. Jake may never be a franchise QB. But you guys bitching about his play today are simply on AGENDA SPEED 10. And I'm not calling his a world beater. But give me 265 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, and high percentage of 3rd down conversions and I call that a good game by any standard (QBR of 99+ proves that out). As for your more insightful points. Yes, the ENTIRE new coaching staff was our biggest offseason acquisition. I'm still not sold on the defense, but they did take away Jamal Charles forcing Alex Smith to beat them and that never came close to happening. I am going to be ABUNDANTLY CLEAR in this point. I am NOT SOLD on Jake as the long term answer. I am NOT SOLD on this defense until it proves it versus better NFL Offenses. But if 1 game means anything, today was a very good FIRST STEP for both Jake and the DEFENSE.
luvyablue256
locker had pretty good stats for a career backup.. lol... comeon guys. It's not about the stats, it's about the TAPE. He made some decent enough plays, but the offense would flow a lot better if he were more accurate and didn't handle pressure like a 12 year old. It's not hate, folks, it's fact. He makes a habit of making open receivers work to catch balls that should hit them in stride. He also acts like someone is gonna shoot him in the head if he throws the ball away under pressure. All that high schoolish running and diving is gonna get him on crutches again. Jonboy
I'll nitpick tomorrow. Aside from penalties, it was a very solid effort from the entire team. Oh and something I'm sure we'll all agree on... Whiz >>>>> Munch.
JLocker10
Pleasantly surprised by the defense. Having said that, I think this game said more about how bad KCs offense is than how good our defense is. Not trying to be a negative nancy, but I agree in regards to our pass rush/pass defense. KC is not a good passing team. We'll be facing much better pass offenses. Tempered enthusiasm there. Loved seeing how we played against Charles. Tackling was much better and we played with an edge out there.
