wiscotitansfan
Does anyone think Locker would lead the Bengals to anything better than 9-7, 10-6 or 11-5? If it's not a clear obvious answer then you sure as hell don't deal with how much of a roller coaster Locker is for a similar record.
abenjami
The funnier part is calling Locker boom or bust, as if Locker might all of a sudden turn into Steve Young.

Starkiller
Seems like roughly half of the posters, on the other hand, prefer to (in my estimate) roll the dice on a new QB in the draft rather than be tied to an average QB like Dalton long term. There's no criteria for a trade in the poll. If you judge it based entirely on who the better QB is, you are going to want Dalton. If you base your decision on the long term including the salary cap and modern QB contracts, I think lots of people prefer to keep Locker with an eye on the next draft if he doesn't excel in 2014. wiscotitansfan
So if that's your logic the question ultimately is who would you rather have... Dalton and AJ McCarron (5th rounder) or Locker, Mett and potentially a 1st round QB. My answer will still be the Bengals slew of QBs than ours any day of the week. Starkiller
That has nothing to do with it. In fact, that's what I said it isn't about to me. It's a question of whether you want your QB 5 years from now to be Dalton on a $150M contract or a guy you draft in 2015. I'd rather take a chance on a rookie next year (or Mettenberger, but I'm not even figuring him in yet).
oldschool
Lol starkiller. You don't know a damn thing about NFL contracts. The system is set up to pay QBs a boatload. Once again, good teams know how to handle the cap. It's a total non factor.
Justafan
The fact that people are still arguing in favor of keeping Locker in this scenario is actually kind of depressing. Reminds me of the VY years when people just couldn't let go.
MIKE75
Back when the team was here the first ten years 1999-2009 i had expectations every year of making the playoffs. More often than not the team did make the postseason. If Locker doesn't pan out this season thats close to a decade wasted on Vince Young and Jake Locker. It has been five seasons since the team made the postseason. Success is based on QB play and unfortunately this team has been barren in that respect. In 2011 with Matt Hasselbeck the team went 9-7 and fell just short of making the postseason. If Locker fails this season this team is looking at another rebuild at QB all over again. IrishTitansFan
I get it now. Dalton is holding back the 8th ranked offense. He totally fucked them throwing for all those yards and TDs. It's his fault Green disappeared for large stretches in all 3 playoff games too! So you would trade for Dalton, give him his contract and continue on, settle for mediocrity? i ddin't know Mike Reinfeldt posted here!

wiscotitansfan
Pretty sure half the people here think we can just draft a QB at will and the FO has just been playing us this long.
