Guest
I am betting he gets ass raped. He's gone from "not even a consideration" to "he's our starter" in 2 weeks. You don't have to be a genius to understand this smells a little desperate. I would not be surprised if Ruston is forcing this on the coaching staff. I hope he has the line calls down. There could be a number of reasons. The majority of us have said that the bye would probably be when he became the starter at the latest and now they're doing it a week earlier than we expected. You're very quick to assume "desperation" in a lot of the FO moves.

You're very quick to assume "desperation" in a lot of the FO moves. I bet the reason they did it a week earlier is so he gets real playing time in at least one game before Locker gets back. They wouldn't want his first game starting to be Locker's first game back and risk getting him killed. Let him work out the kinks and adjust to the speed this week. Then he gets two weeks of 1st team reps during the bye and probably working with Locker as they prepare for St. Louis.

They might also want to get him some game experience to know more about what to focus on during the bye. Could be a lot of things.
Denali
Wasn't he injured? Perhaps the reason they are starting him now is as simple as him having been healed from his injury long enough to have been able to sufficiently participate with the team to learn the offense and is now at the point where he's finally ready to play, which is what they had wanted all along, but the injury had held him back. At the time of the injury, he was already getting high praise from the coaching staff and was mentioned as possibly winning the starting position. Then he missed the rest of camp because of the injury. I'm sure they wanted to get film on him from practice after he returned from the injury to address any issues and refine his technique before throwing him into the starting lineup. I'm guessing he grades out better than Turner even if he makes a few mistakes.
Omar
Turner has sucked, Schwenke is talented and will be the starting C for a long time..hopefully. Not much conspiracy around this, glad to see the coaching staff had the balls to make a move. I am hoping they will do the same with Greene taking over for CJ...maybe after the bye. Jamalisms
If Greene outperforms CJ, he'll get more and more carries. Same situation as it was before the season, (or in others seasons if there had been someone who could dependably play better)... only maybe more pronounced given the run game struggles. Partly depends on Greene, partly on CJ. I don't think it depends on the coaching staff. I think they'll do whatever it takes... and would have previously if they had better options on the roster - which they didn't and haven't this year no matter how many people want to say CJ should be cut. Partly depends on blocking too. Bad blocking, a grinding and more powerful back is better suited. Greene could become the jab and CJ to try and land haymakers. Whatever balance is struck, it should be better than CJ and Battle.
CMJ
CTF is right. Glad about the change but Dorsey on SF will probably rape Schwenke
Starkiller
CTF is right. Glad about the change but Dorsey on SF will probably rape Schwenke But will it be worse than how Turner would do? That's all that really matters...
CMJ
True. Schwenke will get a simple penetration, wheras Turner would have gotten a Double Penetration by Dorsey and J. Smith.
nine
Seems like I read somewhere that the SF D-line is a bit thin and has been playing shorthanded due to injuries. Can anyone confirm?
Vintagerobots
CTF is right. Glad about the change but Dorsey on SF will probably rape Schwenke Dorsey is injured apparently, might not play Sunday. The guy who will replace Dorsey if he sits hasn't started an NFL game yet. http://www.ninersnation.com/2013/10/17/4848502/49ers-vs-titans-predictions-why-each-team-will-win
TitansWycheck89
The real worry should be Justin Smith. He destroys people.
pat
Titansreport on Titans Center position: Mawae sucks, anyone would be better Amano sucks, anyone would be better Velasco sucks, anyone would be better Turner sucks, anyone would be better Shwenke ????? Lets hope this is the one that breaks the pattern! That list starts with an 8x Pro Bowler. Just saying.
