reo
I wonder if it's just a coincidence that this is happening after training camp. My gut instinct is to say no. Was just skimming through the thread to say the exact same thing. a deal will get done im not worried yeah, i agree. i'm not worried either.
OzTitan
At least MR has backed down from the silly "come to camp first" attitude. It was a foolish approach unless you had no intention to offer a new deal at all and just screw the player over. Otherwise, focus on the deal, not pissing matches. jjTitanfan
I don't think CJ would bother coming if he wasn't already planning on staying, since Segal doesn't really need him to negotiate with MR. Not worried.
oldschool
I'm pretty optimistic that a deal will get done tomorrow. Despite what some posters think, it's clear that Reinfeldt and CJ's agent have been exchanging figures.
abenjami
I'm actually hoping it gets done and announced Saturday around 11:30 pacific time. And hopefully we'll be about done with the first round of my fantasy football draft and i'll be on the clock to steal CJ late.
freakingeek
Reading between the lines, it is my opinion that a deal will get done with CJ. If it was merely negotiations, then why would it be necessary for him (CJ) to be in town? That's what agents and cellphones are for. I think both CJ and his agent know time is running out. I would guess his fan respect would really take a hit (as well as his wallet) if he were to miss regular season games. If they hammer out a deal, CJ is in town to sign it and go to work. mctitan53
From Schefter: Meeting between Titans and Chris Johnson will not produce a deal today, but it will give the two sides a chance to communicate face to face. For now, Titans and CJ2K are not close to a deal and are not expected to be much closer by the end of the day. Stalemate continues.

How does he have any idea what's going to happen in a meeting that hasnt even taken place yet?

How does he have any idea what's going to happen in a meeting that hasnt even taken place yet? Schefter is probably the most well connected media member in the NFL... I'm sure he has heard some stuff from inside the building.
StephenIsLegend
I hope it's media hype. Just get a damn deal done.
Cyrus
I hope it's media hype. Just get a damn deal done. I'm sure they will. Chris Johnson wants to play and the Titans need him to. I think they'll find themselves in the 10.5 range and will get something done.

Cyrus
Actually we shouldn't be surprised if Chris Johnson gets about 10.75-10.85 per year for three years all guaranteed. That would be a nominal amount above AP and close to the 12-13 he wants and above the 9.5-10 the Titans want to give him.
abenjami
Schefter is probably the most well connected media member in the NFL... I'm sure he has heard some stuff from inside the building. I used to feel that way when he worked for nfl.com. Since he moved over to ESPN I have gotten the feeling his info isn't as good as it was before when he was essentially a league employee.
